I live in southeast Michigan, and just found out recently that there are Sequoia trees planted at an Arboretum in Manistee (westside of the state). We decided to take a weekend road trip to check them out, as I’ve always wanted to see the great Sequoias in California (one day!)… These trees were originally brought from Northern California, and have thrived near the coast of Lake Michigan for many years now. They are nowhere near as big, or old, as the ones in Cali, but still pretty incredible to see! The fact that we got one of our first snows during our walk through the woods made it even more magical.

Froze my tootsies off looking at the start of the lunar eclipse. This is my DIY telephoto lens shot (iPhone camera taken through binoculars ). It really is beautiful (no, not the photo) but I can’t stay up much later.

I had to say “duh!” when I was surprised the stars were so bright with the moon completely covered. I stayed up, couldn’t sleep. It was worth it. Simply gorgeous. Here’s another shit photo. At least Taurus and the Pleiades look spectacular. Awesome star gazing and meteors, too! Glad I almost froze again in my jammies.

The place were the final scene of Sergio Leone’s The good, the ugly and the bad was filmed.
Good memories, I was enjoying a long sobriety period.
