Lots a great advice here.
My take is, it’s more of changing habits, thinking and purpose.
You’re absolutely right in saying some things are unavoidable. I used to drink in the garage, so there’s that association. I surely can’t avoid the garage forever, but I can change my thinking and purpose to break that association.
One thing that helped me was changing my relationship with alcohol.
It’s a process and it takes time. The obvious things are easy to get rid of (drinking buddies, toxic friends, bars, liquor stores) but the not so obvious innocuous things will creep up. You’re asking the right questions which means you’re on a solid path.
