Have a lovely day in Prague.
That library is so beautiful!!! Please enjoy your day!
That’s a tangible payoff of sobriety - waking up hangover free never ever gets old!
The library and tower visit was great and the walking tour was awesome. I’ve been to Prague before but never got a tour guide to explain all of the fantastic landmarks and their history. Get Your Guide is one of the best things EVAH, my good lady swears by it.
Our 3 hour walking tour culminated at the John Lennon Wall, the weather has been brilliant. More importantly, I’ve been 100% present for all of it. No brain fog or distraction.
Before I came back to Prague I knew it was the beer drinking capital of the world. The average citizen drinks 170 litres per year. I can do that in 1 month. *shudder
Travelling back to our hotel from the guided tour yesterday we stumbled across the main drinking strip and hoards of people drinking and just having alcohol related high jinks. The thought of joining in crossed my mind but I quickly banished it because today we have plans to go to a bone church outside of Prague and I want to be mentally present for it.
Last night to fill the night time we went to a jazz club and the house band entertained us with jazz covers for a couple of hours whilst I sipped orange juice. Tonight we have a similar plan.
The guy playing the double bass had one of the stankiest of stank faces I’ve ever seen. In my region at metal gigs and festivals we tend to call it riff face. It was a source of a little amusement during the show. ![]()
Here’s another
He’s totally ripping the groove.
So all in all, still sober and halfway through the holiday. The ride is all downhill from here on in, though I won’t get complacent. ODAAT
You’re going to the Ossiary in Kutna Hora? I went there too! Very metal site to visit
.
Awesome!! You’re really going to like this!
@Lasse Hi, within here is a small snippet of some of the stuff I’ve done in Prague so far.
Last year I went to Athens for a 5 day break and can highly recommend it.
The year before I spent 10 days in the Netherlands, based from Amsterdam. It was probably my favourite holiday for many a year.
My partner usually finds stuff to do on an app called Getyourguide. None of the places we went to had a beach, but close to Athens is an island called Santorini which a lot of tourists combine a visit to there with a stay in Athens, and I believe Santorini has beautiful beaches.
Day 3 of the holiday over, it’s been an absolute amazing day and I’m NGL that the cravings hit me but I coped.

It turns out that all I needed was chicken and roast potatoes and an ice cream dessert, followed by a fantastic jazz night.
Good night sober warriors. See you again tomorrow. ![]()
Today has been fairy eventful with our visit to Prague Castle (there isn’t a castle
weird huh) There are tons of things to do around here. My favourites so far have been the walk to the top of the tower of St Vitus Cathedral and the walk around Golden Lane.
We had lunch and I was offered goulash with beer soaked beef but I took the goulash with normal beef, just in case. ![]()
No cravings or anything so far. I won’t rest on my laurels though, because I know those bastards can hit quick and hard.
Photo shows my view of King Charles’ Bridge from the top of the tower from around 1 mile away. Probably one of the best photos I’ve ever taken on this phone.
We did it, gang. ![]()
