A good old fashioned addict rewards themself with their drug of choice, ain’t that the insanity we lived in “Yep 30 days and I’m cured again just one more for old times sake” … or was that just me
What has helped me is:
*Being here every day to read ore share
*Tell my loved ones about my sober plan
*Get rid of the alcohol in my house as well of the empty bottles
*Avoid alcohol related friends, places and events the first 3 months of my recovery intill I’m stronger to handle them
*Find hobbies to fill in time
*Be nice to my body and mind because it has to work hard. So tread it with a hot shower, early rest, healthy food and drinks, supplements, music, meditation, etc.
*Celebrate every milestone! When sober you also save a lot of money! So use a bit of it to celebrate your milestones with! When I hit my 1 year milestone I reward myself with a full back tattoo.
*When I have cravings I try to distract myself. Most of the time that’s enough. If not: I tell someone! If not to someone at home in real life I tell it here. There is always someone to talk to here! Never crave alone, there is no need to.
And most of all:
Focus on today and this day only!
Like all above already told you.
Keep it small and doable.
You can stay sober for 1 day!
And repeat after that.
