Today I went out with friends for Halloween. I had been completely sober from alcohol for 32 days… I drank a little bit tonight. I caught myself and realized like what am I doing, I didn’t get crazy or anything at all. I feel terrible, I lied to my friends, family and myself and I just need some advice on how to move forward

Pick yourself up
Dust yourself off
And start again
One Day at a Time
And remember to forgive yourself
You are not your mistakes

You can not change what already happened. But you might learn from how you ended up there. Take a deep breath. And move forward. Maybe avoid exposure for a whileblonger while your sober muscles are still building up? One day at a time. 🧡

Only thing you can do is move on and stay sober today. When you’re in a better mindset it may be helpful to reflect without self judgement why you drank. Also remember this is a daily effort. It’s useful to just ask yourself what you’re doing for your sobriety today. This happens to a lot of us so it’s normal. You also don’t have to do it again. New beginning today for you

I relapsed 2 years ago and just made it back to sobriety 60 days ago. A positive for you is you came back here immediately and started seeking sobriety again. I pretty much disappeared and spent two years drinking and left this place behind. Thankfully when I came back my friends were still here looking for me, wishing you well ❤

Next time you don’t go.
If you go you have a sobriety plan, an exit plan and a commitment in place.
Be sober today, put more work in recovery and be kind to yourself.

Dbrad1 - as others have already said, dont be too hard on yourself: I have relapsed so many times in my 40 years of drinking, that I have lost count. The important thing is that you recognised this slip, didn’t like it and sought help immediately. You will feel demoralised especially after accomplishing 32 days, and that pride you might have felt will dissapate and you feel worse than ever. These negative feelings are just not worth succombing to temeptation and drinking.

As erntedank advises, don’t go out to ‘wet’ places where the temptations and peer pressure are. Maybe you got complacent after 32 days - I’ve done it before, so not judging - but did that little voice in your head say I’ve done 32 days, I can control alcohol now, I’m not ‘really’ an alcoholic’ All these thoughts come from a drunk wet brain, to justify you picking up that first glass. Just don’t go out if avoidable. Stay in and nurture yourself. I did 46 days in isolation - two days before my sober date, and 44 days of my journey. I only went out for the first time two days ago. I had to test my resolve to go food shopping and not buy that poison, for that’s what it is!

Anyway, you are in the right place in posting on here. Seek help on the outside too, AA meetings? Ok, well, have a sober clean day today and take very good care. 🙂

Oh forgot to say, welcome: you’ll find the members on here offer help, support and compassion. I, for one, know I would have relapsed (again!) had it not been for this site and the wonderful people on here. We all KNOW the struggles, you face, having been there. Some members have years of sobriety under their belts, others, like me, are relative newbies. But we all have a common consensus, to help others get sober and /or clean, if drugs is the problem. Post again, read other posts, and trust me, you’ll find it all so motivating and inspirational. Welcome again, Dave.
