Relapsed after 172 days

I relapsed after 172 days and have been drinking for the last 10 days. I spent all my money on alcohol and on friends while drinking.

The relapse started because I was smoking weed continuously for 5 days—from morning until night, from the moment I woke up until I slept. The next day, I relapsed into alcohol.

Last time, when I stayed sober for the first 2.5 months, I was taking medication like disulfiram to help me stay abstinent from alcohol.

Right now, I don’t know where to start. I’m feeling really lost.

Sounds to me like you need the medication that did help and not the weed…the weed is going to lower your resolve to stay sober from alcohol and did, youve proved that…im glad youve come back.

Sorry to hear about your relapse. Sounds like you don’t have enough tools to stay sober. Did you attend to AA/NA or other meetings or do you have other supportive networks? Staying sober alone is hardly possible. I suggest you start to use the medication again and attend to meetings and stay active in here. You were sober for a long time, so you can do it again! I’m glad you’re back.

I’m sorry you relapsed. The weed was already relapse friend. Drugs are drugs and addicts are addicts. I am one. Looks like you are too. Total abstinence is the only viable option for us. You were going to meetings right? Go back. You were on disulfiram right? Get back on it, so visit a doctor. You can do this. One day at a time for all of us.

Sorry to hear that Sarath. All is not lost… you still have your sober streak and you have the tools to get sober again. Coming here is just the first step.

Weed is a real gateway drug to alcohol for some people- why did you decide to suddenly start smoking it so intensively? Or have you been using weed the whole time and it just increased?

Sorry to hear about your relapse. And glad you are here and sharing. Many of us have experienced it. Not everyone comes back. So please stay here and build sobriety ODAAT. You can do it again!

A lot of us have setbacks and/or relapse. The good news is, you can start over. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Its all about moving forward

You came here.

That’s an incredible first step.

The second would be to slow down and take a breather.

Deep, slow, restorative breathes.

Now… have you eaten? Do you need to bathe? Have you gotten any sleep?

Those needs must be met before you can focus on staying quit again.

You already know what you need to do… you just want to hear if we are going to suggest something easier.

I believe in you…

Now, do you believe in yourself?
