I went on maternity leave last December, and I did not leave on the best of terms. I’m positive that the only reason I wasn’t fired is because I was so close to leaving anyways, and I’m sure they didn’t want to get the reputation of being the place to fire someone who’s pregnant, even though in hindsight I probably would have deserved it. I’ve been looking for other work with no luck, because my mat leave finished almost 2 months ago, but this week I swallowed my pride and called them, and I start work tonite - and not a moment too soon, because Ive run out of savings and need rent for next month!
I know they technically have to give me my job back, but it’s the fact that I didn’t hear any frustration, hesitation, or anything negative in anyones voice when I called. Gives me hope that I can start this year off with a clean slate and prove that this time around I’m serious about things being different.
No more manipulation, no more slacking off and calling in/leaving early/not showing up.
It’s not the greatest job in the world, but I’m not in any position to be picky; and instead of focusing on that, I’m just going to be grateful for the opportunity to get back to having a normal life.
