Running in Recovery in 2024-2025

I couldn’t sleep so I went running in the moonlight at like 5am

Name of the game was survival. I’ve heard summer running makes for good winter running. This will benefit me eventually. It was 88F. I hit the pace it wanted and was able to hold it for a little bit but then I felt overheated so I cut it short and tried to calm my HR. It didn’t come down until I got home and rolled ice in my hands.

Ok runners the seasons are soon changing and this will be my first fall/winter running. What brands of pants and jackets do you recommend for the cooler weather? Any specific gloves? Any tips/tricks appreciated

This really depends. Do you (like temperature wise) normally run hot or cold? I’m always cold but I warm up quick when running so I dress pretty normal until we hit around freezing. I have a few pairs of fleece leggings that I love! They are from CVG. I have normal light jackets and fleece jackets. I have beanies and gloves of course but I normally end up taking the gloves off. The only time I’ve actually keep gloves on was when the temp was below negative. It’s good to wear the gloves at first or your hands will be cold the whole time. I also have a few balaclavas for when it’s super cold. I’m talking 20F or less.

Did that run thing this morning. This was really good. Legs felt strong. Garmin had “easy” planned but sunday I always just go on how my body feels.

First Run since I messed up my foot last week. Glad to know I’ve still got it!

Ran 3 songs! Yes! Then, walked one, ran two, then alternated run walk for a few songs.

I have been having a pain in my hip for like a week now :unamused: I skipped a run this week to rest. It felt ok-ish this morning. Hoping some new shoes will fix the problem. I have a 5k race tomorrow :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Haven’t posted in here since june when my knee flared up and put me out of running. Was a bit much on the thread to catch up on haha.
I was previously trying to work my way through a couch to 5k plan to return injury free to running.
I’ve got something i want to do in a couple months that requires weekly track runs, 4sets of 800m with a 30sec rest in between with a 3m50s time cap per set.
Gave it a crack with the rest of the team and wasn’t the worst so that was good haha. See how i pull up tomorrow, have a feeling I’m going to be sore. But it was amazing to be running again

Basically did the same run as last time. Glad to be able to run for 3 songs once, but hope I can get to be able to repeat that in a run.

Man, that first mile was good stuff. I let the race atmosphere get me. I set off way too fast and couldn’t hold it. It was good stuff though!

Still awesome overall! Yeah, raceday atmosphere gets me every time!

I was reunited with an old friend today… The walk/run method! It’s been probably a year since I did this. What started out as a nice easy run, just kept getting faster! I’ll have to do this more often, not hurting afterward like usual.

Starting to feel it in the legs today. Pretty sure I’m going to be dealing with some DOMs after not running in so long then just sending it yesterday haha
