So I am 22 going on 23 days sober from alcohol today. I was trying to think of a way to celebrate my big milestones that wasn’t celebrating sobriety with a relapse.
On day 20 which is now a record time of the longest I have been sober in 10 years I had a lightbulb moment. A tattoo, I’ve always been a tattoo girly but this one needed to be a reminder. A death moth especially when paired with the moon symbolizes transformation, growth, and represents a journey from the darkness into the light. I mean is there a better way to explain coming out of addiction into sobriety? Now I have a constant reminder front and center on my dominant forearm, if I think about drinking or go to grab something with alcohol in it this will be in my face when I reach out as a reminder of my growth and my journey learning who I am without being dependent on alcohol!

Thank you so much! I have been pretty much gritting my teeth and baring it! Got to the point where enough had to be enough so I either get on here and read or keep pushing!!
I didn’t even realize this was a thread on here! lol so of course the death head moth and moons are the most recent.
Got this one in memory of my dad who passed from cirrhosis of the liver suffering from alcoholism, which was passed down to me.. I like to believe he’s watching and proud of me working to break the cycle.
Here mine is the teal A and my best friend has the red one, we had this done on a whim in college both of our names start with A so we wrote A and got each others hand writing tattooed!
this one is a memorial for my granny her favorite animal surrounded by all her favorite flowers.
and then of course my death head moth lol!
I also have a few matching tattoos with friends, they are some of my favorite most memorable pieces!

I’ve got a couple of matching tattoos with my brother, one done in Scotland on holiday together and another that was agreed upon the very last time we got on the drinks together, when he rang me to say he’d booked it I didn’t even remember agreeing to it.. for fucks sake 
. Still I went through with it because it was a cool idea

Edit: I was twitching and I messed up some of the straight lines. But I like it cuz I wanted it half normal and half “distressed” so it kinda works

6 Kodama from the Studio Ghibli film Princess Mononoke! The inner thigh, lower back and rib cage were quite awful, thankfully they were small and only took about 15 minuets for each one! The one with the cute butt is my personal favorite out of these
