Such a wonderful, AMAZING idea and I think you should go for it!! I was 29 when I decided to go back to uni and finish my degree, and that was going to take me 4 and a bit years! And here I am now, 4 and a bit years later about to graduate and have been offered my DREAM job. The time will pass anyway. You will be so proud and fulfilled with yourself once you’ve done it. And please know, it may not be easy, but it will definitely be WORTH it!!
Go ahead and don’t look back. I am 55 and only last year started to train as a counsellor (my level 2 was paid for by the local council as I was job-seeking). When I was in rehab the staff said they suggested I should do it and even gave me some sessions to run there as practice. Many staff are not qualified counsellors and it is possible to work in the field while studying part time. For me it is a long term goal as there is quite a lot of part time study and supervised hours involved but I wish I had thought about it a long time ago. However, I have built up transferable skills and your life experience at 30 will be invaluable. People in recovery can tell former addicts from muggles as I’m sure you are aware. Carpe Diem!
Omg im about to have my zoom call in a few minutes with the college advisor. Im freaking out some not gunna lie haha
I went back to school at 28, right around when I got sober I decided that I was going to get into nutrition to help people like me (who suffer from liver cirrhosis due to alcoholism) live a better life with diet and exercise. I just graduated and am 30. Getting sober sets us up for the rest of our life-we truly are reborn again with the ability to do whatever it is we want because we are sober. If this is calling your name, go for it. Your life has only just begun
I think you should do it you can do anything if you put your heart into it you seem to be a strong beautiful woman and can be a great supporter of other people
Great idea, do it. Four years from now you’ll either look back and say wow that went fast I’m so happy I did that or wow that went fast I should have done that. Its not worth the regret. The time will pass regardless. You just have to decide how you want to look back on it.
So I’ve officially applied for college!! Im freaking out with nerves and excitement. I still need to be accepted and have other steps to take before it’s official. Im so happy with myself for completing this first step.
This is so exciting! You’ve always been great with people on here, you listened and learned then turned around and supported. I wish you all the best in this endeavor. If we can get and remain sober there’s not a lot left that we can’t do.
Exciting stuff! Like anything else is all starts with a first step.
Amazing.
This post really enlighten my day. I just got accepted and just registered to a course to make the prerequisites for sciences to start a new degree next year when I’ll be 31-32. I dropped out of school at 15. Now at 30 finishing a long path of university but ain’t satisfy about the outcome… so going back at it slowly. Who care if you’re 28 or 32 or 50? Isn’t the goal too live the life your want?
Life is live right now, the camera is on, its recording now. You’re live on. Just go!
Wow, never heard it put that way before! Life is live right now!
Just heard that from Matthew McConaughey in the rich roll podcast last week. I have this written on my white board as I come out of my bedroom : « it’s live. » with a record sign
Also help my procrastination habit lol
