So pretty! Congratulations on your transformation!

I’m not entirely sure why I received this because the reprimand didn’t share that information with me. I’m assuming that it is because I was holding alcohol in my hand in all of my “before” photos. I do sincerely apologize for offending anyone.

I would however like to point out, in my defense, that those pictures were a valid representation of my struggle with alcohol. There was a time when nearly every photo of me on my or anyone else’s phone or social media included alcohol in my hand. I was on the cover of a magazine for an organization I worked for and even there I had a damn local brewery, label out for the brand and the camera. Behind my smile in every one of those photos was pain and a person that genuinely hated himself.

My photos were a direct reflection of my struggle and I posted them with complete humility. The after photo was sober and I was proud to share my journey. I’ll be more cautious about sharing my struggle going forward.

I can almost say with certainty that it was because you were holding beer. It can just bring out some very strong urges in people. Maaaany of us have pictures where the majority of we we’re holding a drink or drunk.

Be proud of where your at now. I’m glad your here man. Don’t be hesitant to share. Maybe next time just edit the beer out or crop it if possible, if it’s a pic with alcohol in it.

By the way, I did not flag your post. I did see it and thought it was a definite possibility that would happen though.

I get why you posted those pics and didn’t flag your post or find it “triggering”, but posting pics of alcohol around alcoholics can be compared to posting nude pics around those who struggle with porn or sex addiction. Or posting pics of users shooting up around those who struggle with heroin addiction. I’ve actually seen people post pics of bottles of wine and liquor here of the Forum and it affect a few that we’re struggling during the early days of sobriety at that moment.

I see that, and I respect that. I should have been more careful. In my mind I thought I was showing how addiction doesn’t always look like a problem, when the person is literally beating themselves to death inside.

I ignorantly overlooked the affects that would have on others. It said I could edit and repost, but out of respect I think I’ll let that one die.

Again, my apologies to everyone involved.

Agreed, I ignorantly overlooked that when posting. I feel terrible about it.

Don’t feel terrible!

Edit: I’ve been flagged before for doing/saying things I didn’t think were harmful.

Dude don’t sweat it, it’s no biggie. Don’t beat yourself up over it.

Personally it didn’t bother me one bit.

I had somebody comment on a Guinness shirt I was wearing in a pic I posted awhile back. I didn’t even give it a second thought when I uploaded it.

Wow, I didn’t even recognize the first picture! Nicely done!

Thank you! I’m actually much happier, despite the perceived scowl on my face. RBF! LOL
