Sarah, these are awesome! Your work keeps getting better and better! Keep it up.
Thanks Jim, Iām loving doing them and I feel that with each one is definitely better than the last. And Iām actually selling lots! Itās great, orders keep coming in. I donāt think Iāll be able to retire on the money but itās certainly paying for its self ā¦ who knew ey!? That Iād be stained glassing (and selling my work) and you would be recording those brilliant podcasts??? What a bloomin difference 463 days sober can make
I started out calling this a poem. A few people said maybe it should be a song. Iāve always wanted to learn to write music as I enjoy singing. I wrote it back on May 1st 2020 while in treatment. The idea of changing tone and tempo yada yada rambling cause Iām a little nervous to share it.
Pandema-mania?
It started slowā¦ nowhere to go
Panic setsā¦ nowhere to go
Full of regretā¦ nowhere to go
What happens next?.. nowhere to go
Masks, glovesā¦ nowhere to go
Truth or lie?.. nowhere to go
Millions die?.. nowhere to go
Who survives?.. nowhere to go
Prayers, lost livesā¦ nowhere to go
Husbands lose wivesā¦ nowhere to go
Sisters lose brothersā¦ nowhere to go
Children lose mothersā¦ nowhere to go
We will recoverā¦ now here we grow
Help one anotherā¦ now here we grow
Learn from thisā¦ now here we grow
Donāt use fistsā¦ now here we grow
Peace at leastā¦ now here we grow
Raise your glassā¦ now here we grow
This isnāt the endā¦ thatās what I know
The world will mendā¦ thatās what I know.
My first go at this I showed a counsellor and he said it felt incomplete and that itās kinda sad, which it is. I had only written to the nowhere to go part. He suggested adding to it later after all this crazyness ended and i instantly sat down and wrote the rest, well, in a few hours span. Lol
Btw TS friends any suggestions to improve it or put it to music Iām all ears.
This is my called Ta moko which is a traditional design representing family, land and identity. It is what I love to do when im in a good head space. I am Maori from Aotearoa New Zealand
Just my opinion, I think itās stronger with the first part of each line only. Take out the second part. Itās yours of course, so if you like the second part, keep it! But I like it either way, nice work!
