Small relapse? :(

So I would have had 84 days clean, but I had a small relapse… I just used the one night and I feel so disappinted in myself and like a complete piece of shit for using after I’ve come this far. And I was just wondering if I am suppose to restart my clean time or am I able to keep my 84 days worth of progress? I have absolutely no intentions of getting high again either. Worst. Experience. Eveeer.

Totally up to YOu, but as u can imagine this has come up here before. The answer by most is always to hit reset. Which I would agree with. Don’t think in ANYWAY that by doing that those 84 days mean anything less!! That is totally awesome, good luck to ya.

Yup, it’d be a counter reset for me, BUT also a huge confidence booster. I’d know that I can definitely go for at least 3 months, and that I have also found a new trigger. Did you?

For me I have been lucky enough to make it back to the rooms when others haven’t. I always ask people when they come back , Did ya make it back here? (Yes sounds stupid). Then I remind them you are alive you here… Then where were you? Who were you around? What were you doing when you relapsed? Your time you had clean and sober wasn’t lost you obviously learned something during this time… As for me I would start my time over… but remember this is a day at a time program… you have learned so dust yourself off redo your steps get to some meetings and just focus on today.

This question has come up a few times. My opinion is, that no matter the size of the slip, you should reset your counter. This will do a few things for you:

  1. It will keep you accountable
  2. It will remind you of what it felt like when you had to press that reset button, which will provide some motivation
  3. It will keep you honest

Just my opinion!

I have to agree…
Your just lying to yourself if you slip at all and don’t reset.
I know it sucks but accountability is a major part of sobriety.
When we drank/used we were never accountable for our actions and with sobriety that’s something we are learning to change about ourselves.
But don’t get down about it or let it discourage you…shit happens, the positive is that you know you have the strength to accomplish what a lot of others can not and with that strength and experience you know what to look for next time around so maybe you won’t have to reset your clock.
Stay strong…keep on fighting!
