I am Sam and I was an alcoholic or Better said I am an alcoholic. I will always be an alcoholic that’s who I am but then I met a man and I know a lot of you are going to stop reading the second. You see that tag line of I Met a man but hold on and keep reading I beg … met because it’s so genuine and so kind to give people the benefit of the doubt that I met a man who changed my life
I was so blackout drunk one night that I fell through a glass table. I scarred my face permanently. That was my first life lesson and then only a few months later I fell out of a truck going fishing, and I shattered my pelvis and dislocated one of my hips and one of my neighbors, a senior and an absolutely lovely man, once I could finally stand and use a walker to come outside came Across the street and he offered to help me trim my roses because they were very overgrown and that was the beginning of my journey. A man changed my life because the man simply extended the olive branch of wow you look like you’ve had a hard time. He had no idea that it was alcohol related and I had no idea that he was 31 years sober, but it changed my life and I would like to think it changed his because we have been a couple for about seven months now we’ve known each other for over two years, but there is kindness and greatness to be found in just realizing that we can be vulnerable. We can be at our absolute worst, and as much as my family loved me, and my friends loved me they could not save me from myself and my now boyfriend did not save me, but what he did was identify with who I was and where I was and he just kept looking at me once he realized what my situation really was he would look at me and tell me I understand. I’m sorry I can’t fix it. You have to fix yourself.
