So true, I can check one off.
I have another cord lying in the yard, gonna Duravit it in the shed tomorrow. Then another cord and a half to finish the winter supply.
It’s a total pain, but it’s hard to beat the heat of a wood stove. Not to mention the savings on electricity and or gas.
Looking good my friend
You’re all grown up!
Thanks buddy.
We’re pretty much all wood heat for winter. We have a pellet stove on one floor, and a Woodstove fireplace insert on the other floor. Our heat pump/ electric furnace runs only on the coldest of nights. Cut our heating bill in half, without sacrificing comfort, 72 degrees during the day, 68 degrees at night.
~4 yrs and 1 month
Not back to running full-tilt yet, but I am able to (and have been) walking my running route for over a month now, just a hair under 6 miles – and that’s after walking ~3 miles right before that while I have Chief out for his daily pre-sunrise muckabout. Prior to my surgery, being on my feet for 2-3 hours straight like this would mean an achy back nagging at me for most of the 2nd half and a dire need for an ice bag on my return.
Not now! Zero discomfort, and I didn’t even stretch before! Really cool. I’ll be back running soon enough – but I’m really enjoying the slower, relaxed pace of these long walks to start my Saturdays/Sundays. Feels much more restorative and there is time to observe my surroundings more attentively.
I love living in the desert, man.
So happy to hear this! It’s a beautiful place, that’s for sure. I miss it all the time.
Thank you for your photos . Brings back a lot of memories. I spent the first part of my sobriety in east Tucson. I miss the mountains in the background… biking the loop . Seeing coyotes all the time. I even miss the constant sun . I will definitely be back … for now I’m back in Florida .
You’ll get back eventually!
I love coyotes. Gorgeous animals.
As long as they stay away from my dog.
I’m trying to conceptualize a desert tattoo to celebrate my move out here, now that it’s been over a year. It will involve a coyote, a roadrunner, and an agave. Other than that, not sure what I want to do.
I stayed with my cousin and that’s the only time we really had to worry about coyotes is when we were walking his dogs . I saw them all the time and Also Havelina… Tucson had a huge impact on me . It has a very spiritual feel to it …
That sounds like that will be a awesome tat and have a lot of meaning .
I feel that. There’s a magic and a mystique to the desert/southwest, part of what pulled me here all my life.
I haven’t seen javelina often at all. Once or twice. Love them, though. I think they’re more common in other parts of town. It’s a busy area/intersection where I am so they probably stay away.
See coyotes down in the wash all the time.
Yet to see a single snake, let alone a rattler. Rattler is the big one left on my mental animal bingo card. The only exception is when Chief beings me a dead one. It’s the thought that counts.
I almost got bit by a rattlesnake on Mount Lemmon I think that was the mountain. We went out at night and went pretty far … was walking back down and my cousin pulled me back right as one was right in front of me ready to strike … one more step and I woulda got bit… we had to wait it out and kinda got stuck for a little bit … never went out again at night and don’t think i even went during the day after that …
I’m loving your photos of the desert! Glad your feeling better!
49 months!
Whoop whoop! Running had saved my life here’s my Post-run pic! Sober and healthy
The other picture is of me FINALLY making the decision to join my church. These people right here in this pic, plus my best friend (guy in the green shirt’s daughter) have been my rock and support as I made the choice to be sober and love life right. All of this was today and I cannot feel any more blessed than I do right now! Happy Sunday!!
