Sober Selfies #4

I started get a headache after about a week AF and it was there every day for almost a month. It wasn’t excruciating but annoying nonetheless. I tried not to take too many OTCs and just let my body heal itself. Lots of water. It eventually subsided. I believed (but I’m not a doctor) that my body was probably used to having thinned out blood from alcohol every day and just had to get used to it without.

I’m the same as @Just_Laura, I had a pretty constant headache for the first week or two that I was sober. I also tried to just stay hydrated and eat healthy and let my liver recover instead of taking over the counter stuff. After a little while it went away and hasn’t come back since :+1:

That’s reassuring to hear that it does subside. I want to go for herbal remedies if I can at all, I don’t want to put anything into my body that shouldn’t really be there. I guess time is the best healer with something like this though x

You’re right, I definitely just need to be more patient with my body and remember the hardship I put it through. It won’t heal in a day :butterfly:

I don’t take B12 at all, I’ll certainly invest, I just gave it a look and it seems like something I definitely need :ok_hand:t3: thank you

Headaches will subside-your body is going through some drastic changes right now so everything you are feeling is normal…isn’t it nice to feel again?! Stay hydrated, take it easy and get lots of sleep. From a nutritionist perspective I would make sure to follow a balanced diet. Vitamin B12 is also something you should be taking. Your body is also withdrawing from the sugar so keep that in mind. Try to stay away from greasy food but eat something sugary if you’re having cravings.

Thank you so much, I’ll absolutely be taking b12 and I find I’m actually sleeping earlier than I ever have which is kind of nice… again thank you for the advice and kindness :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Keep up the great work. It really suits you. I been doing a lot of the turmeric green tea from Republic of Tea. And the ginger teas. Don’t know if that helps the headaches though. But they are good for inflammation. Stay hydrated. Lots a water. I’m sure you heard that before.
You’re killing it.

ice packs on the head help too. Turmeric takes some consistent use before noticeable improvement.

Your body is detoxifying. It has to go through some adjustments. WE’LL DONE ON BEING CLEAN. Non opiate OTC meds are fine to deal with the symptoms. I’m not sure what meds are available in other countries OTC but in the UK taking aspirin (ASA) or ibuprofen in combination with paracetamol is OK, but not aspirin + ibuprofen. Unless you get indigestion or heartburn in which case stay off the aspirin or ibuprofen.
