Understandable. There must be something broken in a person who voluntarily chooses to live in the shadow of DC. Iāve lived here 23 years, longer than Iāve lived anywhere else, including my native Boston. Doesnāt matter which āsideā is currently in charge. The machine keeps turning. I look at my desire and steps being taken to leave this place as a sure sign that I am getting better at getting better.
My cousin was/is a Captain in the Army, lived in DC for a few years about 5 or 6 yrs ago. Said he couldnāt stand it there, just because it was all politics, allllll the time. Said it was exhausting.
I imagine he liked it better than Iraq, though!
At least in Iraq it was easier to tell the good from bad.
I have tried to explain this to family and friends whoāve never lived here. There are no ālocalā politics in this area. Sure, we have local and state elections, but every election is heavily influenced by national politics. This is why even after being asked to run for local office, I have declined. Iāve actually worked on local campaigns where I live. Iāve knocked on doors and had conversations with the average voter. All they want to do is vent about what the āother sideā is doing in DC. They donāt want to talk about property tax rates, the state of our public schools, zoning, potholes or streetlights. Canāt really blame them, considering the constant stream of media and soundbites emanating from that city down the road. If thatās all you read, see, and hear, thatās all you think about.
Omg girl!!! Iām so excited for you 11 months is huge!
For sure,
I think alot of people move here for the jobs or to get on the hill, some get married start families and get stuck, you still have some military who get stationed here.
You are 1000% correct on the political views. I dont see that changing, I said it a million times people ignore local politics and just check the box for the one who is in their party. But then I hear about how someone in DC, I bet 99% of them started in your own back yard.
After a long 24 hours. Corin = 1 Alcohol = 0
Gotta love a reality check though. God will give us a front row seat when itās needed. So empowered by my choices todayā¦ To pay attention. Hope everyone is well and If nobody has told you today. YOUR WORTH IT!
Sober head on the pillow=winner!
