Beautiful dog. About a dozen or so years ago, I volunteered for a Greyhound rescue. Did it for about a year. They would take in ex-racing dogs that had been rescued from euthanization, and put them up for adoption. Most were very sweet, some were understandably afraid of people and needed more time to adjust before adoption. Part of what I did was just spending time with them so they could be less weary of humans. Clean the crates, take them for walks, play…

The biggest dog in the place was named Diego, always my favorite, that was my buddy. All this time later I still remember him. Big ol’ cream-colored fella. I hope he found a great home eventually.

It was a great experience. The only bad part was that you end up wanting to adopt every single one!

Peekaboo, next phase of sober life, I see you!

I’m so grateful for all of you who have helped me to get this far! Last fall, I could not have imagined being where I am with life now.

James mate, you are a star buddy. This last couple of months you’ve really grown. I can see it in the contents of your posts. It’s a pleasure being here with you.
Thank you.

Day 32 sneaking selfies in my office bathroom.

My face is slimming and the whites of my eyes are looking healthier. My eyes were almost always reddish and lifeless from daily drinking. Its amazing what a month free looks like. I look forward to what 6 months and a year brings. Happy sobering loves.
