Sobriety in Art

Recently discovered this illustration by Helen Koi entitled “The Reckoning”…the point in our journey when we realize we need to make a change. Anyone else have any art that embodies their thoughts on sobriety?

For me, it’s music. The band that means the most to me is The Amity Affliction. I started listening to them exactly 10 years ago and their music has, without a doubt, gotten me to where I am today. It may seem odd to some but their music is really a massive part of my life.

I’ve seen them live 3 times; would’ve been 4 by now if the pandemic didn’t happen. Joel Birch, their frontman, has bipolar disorder and has been sober for several years now after collapsing and almost dying one year at Warped Tour.

I choose to live life in color by being sober.

This image also speaks to me, it’s from a recovery center. We don’t need to do it all alone!

This is one I did today of all the things in life that I love and all the amazing memories I have of childhood before alcohol took over.
