Sponsor lost

Those hop waters are very refreshing. Congrats on 2 months. Big deal. I’m sure this is helping with your studies!

I can only speak from my experiences and perceptions but I feel like your sponsor calling it quits was actually something that happened FOR you and not so much to you. I feel like that made space for someone more suited for you to come along. You handled it great like @SassyRocks said for being in early sobriety!! Well done!!

For me personally, I stayed sober for 2 years with no sponsor, no program and no step work. My life was better than it was drinking, but I found I was still making the same mistakes in sobriety. I got to a place where I surrendered and asked whoever was out there in the universe that may be listening to me to help me and show me the way. The very next day someone reached out to me and per divine intervention I ended up in AA with a sponsor. For me personally working the steps with her was a literal godsend. I needed that outside perspective. I still do! I completed my steps quite a while ago except for the outstanding amends that are on my higher powers timeline vs my own and my sponsor still helps me to stay working program in all of my affairs. When left to my own devices, I don’t see things the same way she does so having that perspective keeps me working on myself and living in the solution. I just hit 5 years sober and the last 3 years of doing the work is continuing to change everything in my life. I just have to keep taking the next right action, but I know now I can’t do it alone.

Keep going to meetings, keep connecting with others and put out there you are looking for a sponsor. I suspect the right one will come your way soon.

Yes! All of this! Paying attention to my emotions and using strategies to relieve anxiety has been instrumental in making sobriety work for me.

Thanks for your list!

Hey Christina Well done on your 8 days of sobriety.

I am sorry that you had this experience. I would say this is a rare case and you shouldn’t give up on finding a sponsor that fits.

I myself do not have a sponsor. For me I am heavily vested in this community, I have a very supportive family that I can openly talk to and I am working on healthier habits (meditation / prayer, workouts and change up my routines to not be triggered). I also make sure to have a large variety of non alcoholic drinks like La Croix and Liquid Death on hand.

Wish you luck and hope to see you around.
