Starting day 3. Soooo sleepy

Hey, I can definitely say that this was one of my biggest obstacles in staying committed to being clean. I would get off for 3 or 4 days and then be so sleepy that I felt that I needed to go back on in order to just ‘get a good night’s sleep’ and then obviously 1 ‘good night’s sleep’ turned into a week which turned into a month which…well I think you know where I am going.

HOWEVER I can honestly say that after getting past a week of feeling that I can’t focus, I can’t work, I can’t drive, I can’t do anything cuz i’m falling asleep but at night I can’t sleep…I started to feel better and more focused.

I can’t tell you how nice it is to go to bed at night and just sleep, then to wake up in the morning and do stuff…I always THOUGHT that the choice was to sleep well (drink) or to stay up all night and get an hour or two of sleep. But there is a third choice…deal with a few shty days while your body is trying to recover from the poision, make it through to the over side and experience being able to sleep.

It’s really difficult to describe (but I’m sure you will all get it), the feeling of just being able to sleep with no real difficulty is a novel but really pleasant experience to end the day.

STICK with it!

Your body is in recovery mode. Get as much sleep as you can. I remember my first few days of being sober was rough. Give yourself some grace,because many changes will take place. But being sober is so worth it.
