Still battling porn

Does it count as a relapse if you watch porn but don’t finish?

If you’re goal is to quit porn, then yes. If it’s not, I would urge you to make it your goal. That is good you stopped before finishing though. Keep fighting the good fight! Even having quit there will help you develop strength to fight this.

I think you know the answer to that. If it were me, I would count it as a relapse. You gave in. That’s the point. Step one is about honesty. Be honest with your recovery. I struggle with pornography and Masturbation addiction as well. I would count indulging in looking at triggers a relapse.

Truth! Even if shipping doesn’t get you drunk, it gives you a taste. Then your brain craves more and you can’t get it out of your head. Many people, myself included, have experienced severe shakes when trying to abstain. It’s not easy. But, we can’t even go in for a little stress reliever. “Stress reliever” is a misnomer though. It will cause you more stress in the long run.

It’s up to you. You define your recovery. If you felt like you started, but immediately stopped yourself, maybe that’s a win. If you ruminated about it for a long time and then went about seeking it out, that’s different than a quick snap decision to use.

I’ve definitely had it both ways.

That is called edging, if u dont finish. Porn affects the dopamine and are brains get hooked, if you start watching a video or images that our sexuality explicit. If u are trying to quit cold turkey is best not to watch anything that will trigger your dopamine receptors. Is easier said than done my friend, I have been battling this addiction for 22 years, is a tough one, because the drug is basically in our system, and porn is the trigger.

Ok, this might be stupid, but doesn’t everyone watch porn and stuff? Like what makes it an addiction? I accept that it is and I’m not trying to invalidate you all in any way. I’m seriously just wondering and want to learn.

Is just like alcohol, some people get addicted and some dont

But like how do u know? Sorry if it’s stupid. I actually just don’t get it.

If u watch an x rated movie spend the next 6 hours watching x rated movies, and you get a craving the next day to watch porn, and u do it for 6 hours, and by the end of the week, u spend more time watching porn than living life, there is a chance your addicted to pornography. That’s just an example, but if u add masturbation to that, u can be addicted to that as well, and there’s alot more.

I have been watching porn sine I was 8. Didn’t really turn into an issue told late 20’s

I became an addict at age 12, for me is always been a problem, I always felt alone, I was a 90s kid before tube sights, I was chasing my next high, all the time, VHS tapes, magazines, I was the kid at tower records looking at the adult books. I was depress but I never told anyone about it.

Ok. Understood. Thanks.

I started out with playboys. Then VHS tapes, then internet images, tube sights and then I discovered live cams. I never saw it as a problem til I started getting the ED effects. Then I was spending money on the live cam sites and realized I couldn’t stop. Seeing who’s online was apart of my daily routine throughout the day.

The internet really change the game with the tube sights in 2006, web cams are really popular as well, but I was not a big fan of that, I kinda became a sex addict instead after my divorce in 2008, I honestly did not watch tube sights until 2012, but I noticed it was more explicit and hardcore stuff, I really did not enjoy that stuff, but I was addicted to porn already, so it was really tough to resist such easy access and millions of videos, by 2014 I knew that I wanted to quit pmo, it was doing nothing good in my life, the negative side of this for me, was more of shame because I felt like I was loosing control like never before, in the past 4 years I been on a mission to quit this addiction, this internet porn is out of control, I heard if u abstain from pmo for a good amount of time u can fix ED.

I think the comments on here were pretty good and sufficient, but let’s also be clear, not everyone watches porn. Not everyone watches compulsively either. Those that do could be addicts.
