Struggling with drinking spouse

Well done on 18 days.
Stay strong :grinning:

Good job on your 18 days and getting the personal responsibility. It took me a long while not to be angry at my husband for not ā€˜supportingā€™ me enough in my early sobriety and not to blame him for my inability to get sober. But once I released those feelings and really ā€˜gotā€™ that I alone was responsible for my drinking (why was this a hard concept for me?), it got easier. I need to do this for me and I CAN regardless of where my husband is at. That is HIS journey.

Anywayā€¦well done.

I unfortunately understand. Perhaps Al Anon may help? Wishing you well and forward healing in this situation

I wish we didnā€™t have this in common for your sake. It is all happening to teach us something. Just wish the universe would let me take some time off from the schooling.

I can so relate with all of this. Iā€™m on day 19 without alcohol, not my first attempt to quit. My husband is a ā€œnormalā€ drinker, and gets away with the occasional 9am beer on the weekends but I have never actually seen him drunk so that excuses these kinds of actions in his eyes. But really, I am the one with the obvious problem. Heā€™s seen me blacked out, passed out, throwing up on myself and belligerently drunk many times. Yet he still wonā€™t actually agree that I have a drinking problemā€¦baffles me. Anyway, he is still calling me on his way to the liquor store after work asking if I want anything. I keep telling him no and to stop asking me, and I hope he does once he realizes how serious and determined I am this time. Luckily I havenā€™t wanted to have a drink up to this point but I am nervous for the day he offers and Iā€™m not in a strong mindset. Iā€™m going to give the threads on being with spouses who drink a read now. Thanks for sharing!
