Day 15 for me. Made it through a relatively low key Christmas. Stayed busy today. Played 18 holes of golf and feel physically pretty damn good. I must say today is the first day I’ve had some real cravings for the drink… It’s the monster inside and he hasn’t been Fed in a long time… he wants to eat. I can’t let the demon get the best of me… I won’t. Texted my sponsor and he reassured me I’ll be fine.
Yeah…2 weeks sounds about the time it hit me. For me I realized it was mostly habit rather than a physical need so I just distracted myself and I made it through. I know you can do it too.
@VSue, this is not habitual today. This is a feeling that it sounds flat out awesome to get drunk right now. I’ll have to fight through this.
That’s the hardest part for me, I enjoy the immediate gratification. In my quitting, I just attempt to occup my time. I went to a restaurant for lunch, it was packed so we had to sit at the bar. I passed that test by thinking about the hangover I’d endure. Sounds like you got this though, you’ve already taken the proper steps. Good luck man!
Shove a 32 ounce Sobe Energy fountain drink and a king size Snickers bar down my throat, that’s how I curb my cravings baby!!! Lmao
A good point was made…for anyone that doesn’t realize this…carry something sweet with you at all times for when a craving hits. Newly sober, you will crave sweets like crazy…totally normal. I have an altoids can filled with mints, gum, and lifesavers (see the irony?) that I carry with me. It shuts up the addiction demon when you shove a candy or sweet drink down your pie hole.
