I just read this whole thread as it just popped up on my feed. Im 3 days back in at a reset. I gotta say through all your ups and downs, you never gave up and you are a warrior. The longest I ever did sober was 90 days from alcohol. Iām hoping to smash that this time around. You are an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
Hey! Great to see you back, sorry about that relapse. I bet you are learning a lot along the way. Keep on keepin on!
How times change, just an update on what Iāve been up to. So I have just completed an epic walk raising money for a recovery cafe to have a refurbishment. I walked 102 miles of the cotswold way over 5 days so far raising Ā£1043 and still rising. It definitely pushed me physically, mentally and emotionally. It has taken monthās of planning and in a few days I will be interviewed on the radio BBC radio Gloucestershire about the walk.
Life has been good and treating me well but it has not been without hard work. Staying sober is not easy, if you ever think that just because someone has 1,2,5,10 years sober they have it easy now, you are very much mistaken. We are constantly in recovery, we are equipped with the tools to deal with our addiction and we use them every day. Sobriety is so definitely worth it.
I wouldnāt have done or achieved any of what I am doing today if I was still binge drinking
I saw the meetings list in an old lounge post of yours for your local cgl. It puts the one near to me to shame. Is that where you volunteer?.
Well done with the sponsored easily btw.
Yep I facilitate a survival skills group now. Cgl by me has so much going on in the way of groups and I work with the after care team called emerging futures alongside cgl because we have such a huge bank of volunteers who do not get paid the money can be put into services instead which is great
Hey Michelle, itās always nice to see your updates. Thatās some awesome walking. Great to see that you have been able to return so much to the community in this way.
Keep on doing what you are doing!
Iām looking in to volunteering at my local cgl aswell, it will let me hero others whilst also strengthening my own sobriety. Itās a win win.
Most definitely is, I need that constant reminder of where I was in my own alcoholism and I still get the support network I need. Its very satisfying giving back and seeing people working thier own journey
Keep a listen out Friday 12-1 on the radio, the cotswold way is an epic walk if you ever get a chance to walk some it, it runs from chipping Campden to Bath
Yeah, weāve done a bit up by us. Did you do the whole walk. How long did it take?
Suppose that means I have to listen to local BBC radio!
I just read most of your story and if ever there was an inspiring tale of getting out from from the pits, working extremely hard on bettering yourself, perseverance and determination to make a better life for yourself and those around you, this one is it. That last pic of you on your epic hike is just, well, epic! Thanks so much for sharing your life here. If I do nothing else today my day is already good. Touched my heart. Thanks again Michelle.
Michelle, what a wonderful update. You are one amazing lady
Yes local radio all for a good cause, specifically me lol. Done the entire 102 miles in 5 days we camped at thistledown Farm, absolutely amazing place
Your welcome, I hope that my story inspires others that along with the hard work there is a life being sober, you find it along the journey
Thanks you beautiful lady, love seeing your pictures btw
Thank you, its been one hell of a year. A year ago I couldnāt even imagine getting to one month sober, its all a day at a time
I love this so much, Michelle. Seeing you happy and doing so well is a beautiful thing. Your spirit is indominable and your heart is always open. So much love to you, my friendā¦
