Oh boy this is something I really need to work on! I’ve noticed a bit of a shopping addiction popping up in the last few years… When I got out of college I didn’t make enough money to really buy myself anything so everything was just no no no, I can’t afford that, no. A couple years ago I finally got a better paying job and more concrete living arrangements, so for the first time I have a bit more expendable income and it’s just kind of spiraled.
Luckily I haven’t racked up any debt yet but I’ve started thinking more about my future security. Thinking wow if I hadn’t gone on that shopping spree, I would be in a better position right now.
Its even more difficult since cutting out alcohol and weed, my go-to vices now are sugar and shopping. And eseeeeeeecially during this quarantine, I feel so bored and lonely. Online shopping gives me this nice little buzz.
Any advice or tips anyone can give me I would really appreciate. I would love to learn your frugal ways!
Well, I guess I was that guy…but I certainly am not now! I am still trying to figure out the voids I was filling by spending like that. It was like I was one purchase away from finally being content but it never happened.
It’s a blog written by a guy who retired at 30 (normal incomes) with his wife when they were expecting their first child. His wife guest posts as well. Its very well written and motivating!
Dave Ramsey is the most well known and has some really good budgeting tools. Faith and common sense based.
earlyretirementextreme.com is one that I have just scratched the surface on and there is a book. It’s been very analytical but entertaining.
