Hell yeah. Today I learned we’ve got the same favorite movie It’s the perfect film. I commented in another thread that last weekend/last week, I am pretty sure I watched it 5 times in a matter of a few days. If it pops up on TV, I am putting it on - no questions. It’s on a lot during the US independence holiday/4th of July.
I grew up going to plenty of towns like the one in the film, although on Cape Cod proper and not one of the islands. In 30+ years of living in Massachusetts, I never got out to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. Apparently there is a Jaws museum on MV. That would have been cool to visit.
I’m pretty sure the filming location for LOTR tops a frat house in the desert I had read there’s entire tours set up for people to visit NZ just to see the LOTR filming sites. Admittedly, I’ve never been into LOTR, although I really want to be. The movies are visually gorgeous and are major cinematic achievements, I recognize them as such. I just haven’t been able to sink my teeth into them. I revisit every five years or so to try again.
Worth it if you can find a copy. Like a lot of Kubrick, there is so much to take in and pick apart. Really enjoy going out and reading people’s different interpretations of it, and I try to watch it with a different perspective in mind each time.
I picked this gem up at a local store a few days ago. It’s not a thrift store, it’s just some guy who has a bunch of retro tech, random trinkets, rare books, unique art, and a bunch of VHS tapes. He said he has 40+ boxes in storage waiting to be put out, so I will be returning to find more!
Much like a record player, I do not own a VCR. But the physical version with near perfect quality was impossible to pass up. I don’t often invest in physical media, but this is a high value collectible for me
I have limited space so ive packed down alot of my other collections to fit our dvds in, but once we either move or renovate ill likely pick up a few display pieces here and there too.
Went to a thrift store I hadn’t been to in a while, I’d forgotten they have a good few dvds. I had hoped to find the copy of “Amadeus” that I saw (and left there) ~4 months ago, but no such luck. Two good finds either way.
Have loved Signs ever since I was a kid. Don’t see it pop up on TV so often thess days.

That went out the window pretty quickly as our one big store that does all the good stuff was having a sale. So I got my first 4ks today. My jurassic park/world collection is done for now. I just couldnt pass up tmnt to add to that lot amd onward is one of Hannah and I’s favourite movies
