I agree with the saying. It reminds me i cant live in the past and woulda shouldas or the regrets of the past and lose focus on the present
The chase of a lifetime happens at a doable pace, too. One day at a time. Just for today.
Maybe a meeting might help get new like minded friends wish you well
100% but how to forget the past and traumas
I started taking yes by choice but because my stepmother wrote me a message saying a should leave my father alone like I was a burden and then had my baby didn’t use met my brother and started using again my baby was 1 year and something I always fail
Thanks
I relapsed today after 5 days and I feel shitty
Great job on day 3!!! One second, one min, one hour, one day at a time ![]()
Sometimes is very hard to focus on the presente and not that we want to stay un the past is just something with in our body’s in brains that is stuck and its awful sensation ![]()
Oh i get being haunted and feeling stuck. Therapy and aa helped me actually process the shit that i was drinking at or drinking to forget. We addicts find it easy to justify our use but i had enough. I was miserable. I was stuck and hopeless. I reached out for help here and in aa and started taking counter actions to what my impulses or habits were. Its uncomfortable and triggering as fuck…the hardest part is getting comfortable with the uncomfortable and learning how to be a human without using.
I get you just dont feel the triggers or why I just do it
What are you doing to stay clean and sober? Abstinence is required but on its own is not sufficient.
I like the expression, Never Quit Quitting. You had five days. Try again. It is so worth it to get off of the unmerry-go-round for good.
Yes, this
I’ve been reflecting on my relapse the last few days and I have discovered a big part of my addiction is I drink when I feel like I’m worthless or have failed the people in my life. 2 years ago I was almost 2 years sober and my baseball team made the championship game and we lost….as I saw and felt everyone’s disappointment and despair I and some other people seemed to blame me as the head coach. I made it two months of not working my plan back then before I gave in and spent the next two years and 2 more lost championships battling the disappointment and this year I had people literally attack me personally.
I let the world around me and the negativity from people dictate my emotions and I was unprepared for this. I had no plan to combat it but now I’m taking the steps to recover and learn from it one day at a time. I’m in the same boat here on day 2, congrats on 3 days. Stay connected to good people like @Cjp and others in this community they’re full of love and wisdom.
This message really resonates with me, because we are at all times responsible for where we are in life. If we choose to drink, or DOC then we are responsible for what goes along with that choice. If we choose to rise above and stop and fight for our lives, then eventually we start to find those “Aha!” moments, and realize that life is worth living because we made it that way! There is a great power in knowing that you can control your destiny, and where are you at and where you end up. ![]()
