The Stupid Polls thread (Part 1)

I’d like to commune with an octopus. Anyone see Octopus Teacher? :octopus:

I’d rather you just go ahead and kill me

In that case, would you prefer to be crushed by the extreme pressure of the deep sea or freeze to death in the void of deep space?

Ohh I like that. Might as well go with space

Dude, have you seen Gravity with Sandra Bullock? Dying in space looks like it would be super lonely and suck. Then again, in the depths of the ocean would suck too…

Never saw Gravity, but I recently watched "F9: Vin Diesel vs. the Laws Of Physics.
Space is easy when you got family!

Have you ever quit drinking (or your DOC) for a significant amount of time and thought you’d be able to control your drinking only to find out you can’t?

  • Yes
  • No

I voted yes, but my significant time was like 45-60 days so that may not count. It ended with 2 more trips to rehab. Go me!

I’d be willing bet that 30 to 60 days is the average range where the bulk of these attempts of moderation are made. I know I fell in to that range.

I voted no because my quits were enforced and I returned to drinking not because I thought I could control it, but because I never wanted to quit on the first place.

Yes, but I was wrong.

Oh yes, I used to think that just 2 weeks of no drinking could erase years and years of bad/self destructive habits  there’s addict brain logic for you. The only way I can control it is to not drink at all. Since I’ve admitted that, I’ve realized that I only drank to erase my painful feelings and emotions. I still haven’t made it to 30 days but having a different mindset this time makes a huge difference in my motivation. Day 17 alcohol free and I’ll never be able to go back to “normal” drinking

I am a periodic drinker, and always planned my next drunk in advance.

You need to upgrade to merino wool if that’s the case

You are not a fan of the Costco cotton knee highs? :flushed:

I have 8 different pairs of merino wool. 15-20 miles of dry and soft. Worth every penny

I have a few pairs, but of course when I need them I can only seem to find one.
