Damn this is a toughy
I mean if I didn’t have to work ever ND be self sustaining somehow while still having the squirts. I find diarrhea quite relieving. _(--)/. And since I’ll never meet any of you the smell is not that bad almost enjoyable plus you get to sit down forever not to bad a deal. I like isolation
I’m cleaning out my garage and I have four boxes of CD jewel cases where I stashed them 20 years ago after moving all my CDs to CD books. Help me decide. Choose as many as you feel is appropreate.
- We’ve all seen Hoarders. This is how it begins. Throw the boxes away without opening them.
- Pull out all the cases for your favorite CDs, put them neatly on a shelf, then stash your cash and valuables in them.
- Pull all the inserts (or at least the ones you love) and toss the cases.
- Digitize all your music and trash the cases and the CDs.
- Original home decor idea! Use all that extra joint compound you have and stick them to a wall. Extra points for doing this so you can still open the cases.
- Can’t help you. Stuck on the idea that you still even have CDs…why??

So what did you decide? I feel invested in the outcome
This is a great question. Mine are on my fireplace mantle, in various boxes, and fill up a bookshelf. Man, if some of those cases could talk, haha! I don’t know what to do. I will likely take them all with me, yet again, as I look to move within the next year. I still crack one out every once in awhile and play it.
For those with at least a year of sobriety:
Are you a different person than you were before sobriety?
- No, I am pretty much the same person.
- Yes, I am 100% different, personality, priorities, goals, principles, all of it.
- Somewhat, same personality but different priorities, goals, principles.

I kind of liked the “CD wall” idea, but apparently my forever mate is not as thrilled with it. I’m thinking I’ll pull out the inserts and toss the jewel cases. My thinking, back in the day, was that if I ever wanted to resell the CDs or do a trade in then having the cases would be good, but that’s not really as much of a thing these days.
@Gorden I think they can make good home decor and then you also get to show case your music preferences. I used to do that before I put the CDs in books to make them more mobile. I’m not sure I’ll ever get rid of them. Though I’m also the type that buys music, downloads it, then burns CDs. Good luck with your move.
I was definitely melted down and reforged into something better. There are some similarities in my personality and goals that simply have existed all my life, but for the most part I’ve become more emotionally strong, wise, and patient along with realizing that many of the things I was focusing on before were very transient and unimportant in the scheme of things. Some people I know like me less now, but I like myself more and that’s what really matters to me.
100% Might be a bit too much but I have surely changed a lot more than somewhat. So 100% is my choice. I had no idea what I got myself into when I got sober. Work it is. Changed I am. I actually have a self image these days. And I actually like myself at times. Regularly even. Both 100% new me. Principles I am not totally sure. They’re mostly the same but I got them a lot clearer these days.
Thanks for the responses @Mno and @Chiron! I think its interesting to see how sobriety changes us, not just physically and financially, but mentally.
I chose that I have the same personality, which for the most part I do. I still cry at the end of Titanic, still laugh at farts and still get nervous when talking to people. But the nuance has definitely changed. I’m less spontaneous, more forward thinking. More patient, more empathetic.
As far as goals, long term hasn’t changed, I still want to take of the world, but short term goals are different and priorities have definitely changed, same with principles.

Who makes phone calls? Are you crazy?
It seems lots still like phone calls
My preference 100%, I can be making the dinner while I am talking instead of spending time texting
One guest in particular … lets spend three days, hammering it out by text.
If someone tries to text me to make plans & it takes more than two texts they better answer my call or it just ain’t happening.
