The Stupid Polls thread (Part 2)

Interesting thing in Arizona.

Arizona itself does not implement daylight savings, which is in contrast to most of the US. I think the only other state which doesn’t is Hawaii.

HOWEVER, the Najavo Nations within Arizona do implement daylight savings. So potentially, you could be driving and have it be 2pm, cross into Navajo territory where it’s 3pm, then emerge from there and it’s back closer to 2pm.

I’m in the southern part of the state so not a concern for me, just an interesting quirk.

Minor annoyance, the map spells Tucson incorrectly.

That is interesting!! Im loooooosely planning a roadtrip down to Tucson. Ive been learning alot about Arizona lately. Strange coincidence that this popped up today :joy:

That is where I live (city and state). There is nothing like a great road trip. I prefer it to flying. I drove here from Massachusetts when I moved here, one of the best “trips” I’ve ever done.

It’s a great place to visit and a great place to live, especially if you like the outdoors, plants, and animals. Definitely a “food city” as well - best Mexican food this side of the border and anything else you could imagine.

If you end up going for it and would like some suggestions or advice, feel free to reach out!

I once encountered a guy that found 5$, he asked me if it was mine and I told him no. When I was in the store I heard a lady panicked asking someone at customer service if anyone had turned it in. You could tell that 5$ was really important to her and she needed the money. Anyways…I helped them find the guy and he was able to return it to her. Pretty cool to witness.

I have lost many things that people never turned in. Idk…I really believe in Karma and doing the right thing. You just never know when something good comes back at cha. Just my two cents that I know doesn’t matter.

I would definitely keep any loose money I found but if we’re talking cash in a wallet with ID then I’m finding the rightful owner. That would be my threshold…. I’m definitely not as good of a person as @RR160416 and @TMAC

@RR160416 Your two cents absolutely matters. That’s why I created the poll. I wanted to hear from both sides. I think it’s great that you’ve had that experience and can share about how the other person may be going through some tough times.. that we just never know. I was secretly hoping someone would say they would turn it in because I did feel a little guilty. I just might go to the property management and turn it in. Or maybe not… it could be manna from Heaven since I’m in need right now. LOL

@CanadianGirl I would not keep it, either, if there were some sort of ID that came along with it. I like your take on that.

I had this thing one time when I was working as Subway assistant manager in my 20’s. I went to the bank to get some change for the day and deposit what we had from the previous night. The bank lady gave me the wrong amount in change. I don’t remember now how much it was. But I gave her about $200, and she gave me back around $250 or something. I got all the way back to the restaurant and didn’t notice her mistake until I was leaving change in the register. In that instance, I took the money back to her, showing her the mistake. She was SO grateful and said she probably would’ve been fired for that.

I pretend I have no heart just for a joke, I mean kind of, I’m broke. Of course if I found 10$ and a distressed women came looking for her 10$, I’d give her 5$.

So…. A lady knocked on our door this evening and asked if any of us had found a $50 bill. She had been knocking on doors trying to find it. I coughed it up. Oh well. I’m glad I could hold it for a few hours at least. Lol

Oh my goodness. Best. Poll. Ever. I thought it was hypothetical.

Please post polls more often. This gave me life in a trying time for me.

No I was serious! I felt bad this morning, but I took it off the ground and put it in my pocket thinking, “God is good!” Lol. Glad it made you smile.

It’s portal poll time! Inspired by the Paschal full moon, this one is about illumnating what has been germinating underneath, and ready to grow. Please choose an image (your identity is never revealed, that’s my speshtialty). I’ll pick a tarot card for each image to support the process of growth for each image chosen.

Ready, set, choose :

a) Eight of wands: The long dry season of doing the work without visible result isn’t failure. The movement is already happening. You just can’t see it from ground level yet, it’s the moment before impact.

b) Four of Cups: The germinating thing is trust. Not the dramatic kind. The ordinary kind, learning that company isn’t weakness. In sobriety, we often make private many things, the struggle, the small victories, that allowing another in is not easy, do we want to? The capacity to receive is what is to grow.

c) Judgement. No drama here also, no announcement, no explaining yourself, just closing the door on what you’re done with. Like in sobriety, its the self choosing the itself, enacted in small and funny ways even, on a day-to-day.

d) Devil and Strength (obvs last one gets two cards): the butterfly doesn’t escape the flames in recovery, it carries it without being consumed. the goal was never to become someone who doesn’t burn, it was always to become someone who knows what to do with the burning. The intensity, the longing, the hunger, the feeling of things too deeply that’s not the addiction. That’s you, and always was. The addiction was just what you handed the fire to, because you needed somewhere to put it. sobriety is not becoming less, its holding heat without letting it run you. Same fire, different hands when you’re sober.

I’m stuck between bread and peanut butter. I don’t really eat either but I like peanut sometimes on my oatmeal. And I like garlic bread and naan but I don’t eat those often either. I would never EVER give up coffee or cheese though
