The tired of resets topic

I have become co dependent on cocaine and drinking over the last 7 years and have had fazes of extreme use to moderate daily self medicating, I’ve reset the timer so much and I’m over it just curious how people start the journey to be better.

One day at a time, having the desire to do it, and doing the work to get it done.
There are many threads on here with helpful information for you. Others will come in and put the threads on.
You have come to a good site for support.
3-D meetings are helpful, talking to a family practice Dr could be helpful.
Accountability is helpful.
Welcome to the community. Wishing you the best.

Try not to see it as a reset every time. Every day you live sober is a day you learn something about yourself and your sobriety. When you first attempt sobriety you’re probably going to fail at it…a lot. I know I have.

But it’s like anything else. It’s a muscle. You don’t go lifting hundreds of pounds your first day in the gym. You start a day at a time and you build up to it.

So don’t beat yourself up for falling down. Beat yourself up for staying down. Get back up every time you fall.

Keep trying! I had so many day one in the beginning of my journey. I’m now 20 days and have no attention of resetting again. I love being sober versus hangover and sick everyday. It helped me to think of it one day at time and not in forever terms. This community helped me beyond belief. Give yourself some grace and keep trying. It is worth it!

The beginning is the hardest imo. Having a good support system helps with accountability and not feeling so alone. Reach out on this app or find a sponsor you can connect with on a regular basis. Don’t be discouraged with having resets :sparkling_heart: You’re still going in the right direction every time you focus on your sobriety. Don’t give up and take it a day at a time.
