It’s only been 10 days (almost 11!) since giving up alcohol, but I can already see my daily choices naturally shifting its priorities to utilize my extra time differently.
So far, I’ve:
Adopted a dog from the shelter
Ran 8 miles over the course of a week
Studied a new technology for my job.
Been busier around the house knocking out Honey Do’s
Went on a date with my wife.
Went on a date with my daughter.
Lost 3 pounds
Started working out at work during lunch
Started eating WAY healthier food
Spent $7.47 on soda and candy (for my daughter) vs. $60 to $100 I would have already spent on beer and whiskey.
It’s amazing how addicted when can get to a substance that holds us back in so many ways.
I’m looking forward to what the New Me brings in the future!
Wow that’s truly inspiring at 10 days! My list is quite small lol I’m mainly trying to get back to school to finish up my bachelor’s. I keep seeing lists like this and it makes me feel like I should be doing a lot more lol good job dude
Eh, don’t sweat it man. The truth with these type of posts (including mine) is that 90% of the list is our natural state (as in what we’d do ANYWAY if alcohol didn’t sap our energy and motivation).
The real message here is “hey look! Check out all this normal shit I’m doing because alcohol isn’t getting in my way!”
Just because your normal isn’t running and dating or losing weight doesn’t mean anything.
Your message is actually cooler I think. “hey look! Without alcohol I’M PURSUING AN EFFIN DEGREE!”
