Time for 1st ever AA meeting

Hey Lee
Sorry to read it sounds like you’re struggling. AA sounds like a good plan. Too bad you don’t have more options closer where you live. Maybe you can find more options eventually.

If I might butt in. I’ve seen you around a bit. Always enjoy your posts and pics.
I was terrified thinking I can’t ever drink again. How can I possibly do that? It was frightening as all hell. But that one day at a time bullshit is really really what it’s all about. For me anyway. Those clichés we preach. They really do work. I’m not saying it’s easy. But just for today man. Early on I use to think “I’m not drinking today! And I’m probably not drinking tomorrow.” I put a little twist on it. Worked for me.

I don’t see you on the Gratitude thread. Have you thought of checking that out each and EVERY morning to start your day? It’s totally retrained my brain. There’s a great bunch of us on there. I can save you a spot. It’s been one of my strongest tool. We got so much to be grateful for when we are sober. We got fuck all when we are drinking. It’s true.

Dan started a great thread a while back.

Give it a read if you’re willing.

And lastly. Jason Fisher told me whenever he thinks he can drink like a gentleman. He can’t. He puts on the audio version of Chapter 3 from the Big Book of AA. I use to listen to that a lot on my morning walks. Some afternoons too. Got me through some hard times.

Always around for ya mate.
Happy to help.
I’m grateful you reached out.
Maybe you could find an AA group that isn’t local. Make a day out of it.
