Today is a bad day

Today sucks! Of course, when it’s a bad day I’d love a nice cold one…(more like a 12 pack). Thanksgiving and Christmas is a bad time for me because of family drama. I feel so alone. When I’m down, it’s liquor that numbs me. I’m choosing to be sober, but wow it’s so hard. I’m so anxious and emotional :expressionless: tomorrow will be better right?

Whenever I feel a strong urge to drink and end up not doing it I feel very proud of myself once the urge passes and especially the following morning. Just remember that urges pass and you will get through this hard moment. Everytime you can get through an urge you are building confidence and trust with yourself about your strength not to drink. This too will pass.

@ariana2607 tomorrow is a new day just think today made you stronger. I have had an emotional day I wanted yo run out to use but I just telling myself is it going to change anything that I’m upset over. NO!!! it’s not so why do it to myself. Instead I’m telling you all I am fighting to stay clean. Night is almost over.

And nobody said that you have to hang out with your family this year. If they ask, just tell them why.

Its normal to have toughts like that. Hang in there .you are in the power of make a choice @ariana2607 yes christmas and such can be tough on some , but the way i see it you are not alone .we are here . Go to meetings you will see there is always hope and Great support .love your self and let your shame go, you are good enough as you are . Respect your self .and say today is a good day what can i do to my self today and how can i make a good day for others .

Tomorrow will definitely be better. Be strong and breath deep. Take an hour, 10 minutes, even a minute at a time and try to not focus on the bad things and the “need” for a cold one. Keep your mind busy and you’ll be fine. Heck, go to bed early if you have to :wink: You can do it!
