Bad decisions tend to lead to bad outcomes. However, courts in my area will accept any type of recovery program. Not just AA. Inpatient rehab is usually a popular one because the food is better than jail. However, the choice is always there. Plus AA won’t force you to stay. You can get your slipped signed and leave in a lot of meetings. Most people who are ordered to be there, and stay for the meeting, tend to have some desire to get sober. At least in my area.

I haven’t experienced this in my AA meetings, but I have to think going to a meeting is better than jail. Leslie Jamison wrote about this in “The Recovering”. Good read.

You can only go to a restaurant and tell them their food sucks so many times before they tell you not to come back. If you continually ask for help and then completely reject all offers to help you are going to get the same results.

Has someone seriously tried to claim that benzos aren’t drugs? I have seriously abused them for a long period of time and can say with absolute certainty that they are not only a drug but a very abusable one at that. I was offered a Xanax bar in work last week there was no risk of me taking it but actually seeing it caused a very strong reaction.
They do have their place in modern medicine though, when taken properly they can be very effective 
Going off hope result Xanax are prescribed in the States them I’d be suprised if its hard to get a valium prescription, it’s nigh on impossible to get a Xanax prescription over here. Your doctor’s are probably incentivised to prescribe them as they were with opioids

Aw cute. That’s absolute bollocks benzos are absolutely considered a drug in NA they even stringently advise against alcohol as it’s a drug. She is just making excuses for not being stressed to put the effort in. They are the most serious drug that I know of to withdraw from in relation to the possibility of having a deadly seizure.
I just went downstairs and for an overwhelming feeling of Christmas time, I think it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

I love how people put down one topic and everybody just speaks about what’s on their mind how they feel and their experiences in their life I love how a newcomer joins the group and gets flooded with so much feedback from people just trying to live life better than they were living it before they got clean and sober I truly want to say thank you to all of you

It’s a benzo tablet but rectangular shaped that breaks in to four pieces, they are 2mg but it’s extremely strong and short lasting which skyrockets it’s abuse potential. I struggle to see even pictures of any of my doc,s. It creates a strange yet strong reaction in me that I can’t describe, I wouldn’t class it as a craving.

I’ve been to rehab with people detoxing off Xanax. Try telling them benzos aren’t drugs. That shit made me happy about my heroin withdrawal

Just so we all realize what this site is like, that there are people everywhere, the person you are talking about is from an ex Soviet country where people are ostracized for seeing psychiatrists or therapists, walking into NA means you are a junky, and benzos aren’t considered a drug by the public. It’s a place where things like public safety is hardly a thing.
This person has reached out to me, before all this bullshit happened, and is actively trying to figure out how to do this without putting herself and her child in an impossible situation. Let’s not forget that a lot of the world doesn’t enjoy the freedoms and safety and acceptance that most of us do.

Plenty of people get sober in all countries. Some places might be tougher than others but it’s possible. Kinda sounds like she was just feeding you a bunch of excuses to justify her lack of inaction.
Okay, the country isn’t an ex Soviet country, my geography is terrible and my ignorance a lot bigger that I’d like to admit. But, that doesn’t mean that it’s much better.
