Wonderful share! Heartfelt congratulations! It really is great to be out of the vicious cycle of drinking. Yep, that first drink really is key. If it is hard to resist the first drink, that proves it will be even harder, if not impossible to resist the next.

Holy Moly, this gif almost gave me a stroke from sensory overload!

I too love “there’s nothing a drink can’t make worse”. Course, you also know that I’m a big fan of “not drinking today, and probably not drinking tomorrow”.

Two years of getting better at getting better, each and every day! Some days it might not seem so, but if you start and end a day sober, you are better. One more in the “W” column on the old fight record!

Keep getting after it!

Hey John! There are lots of people here who know exactly what you are going thru. You’ll get a lot of replies with what they have done to get and stay sober.

For me, this community was key as well as my local AA and The Luckiest Club online. Community is key for me and many on this forum. Trying to get and stay sober alone is unnecessarily difficult. I also had a walking regimen outdoors with a good buddy, and tried to stay as active and social as I could in the early days as I had isolated myself the last to years of my drinking. I’m now 23 months sober. Never ever thought I could make it 50 days let alone almost two years. Re-engage with hobbies and activities you enjoy. There is tremendous freedom in being a non-drinker. Gratitude is key as well.

Hi John and welcome to the community. Congratulations on your 50 days! Each day sober is a day to celebrate! Regarding friends, I stayed with the ones that supported my sobriety and distanced myself from the ones that continued to drink excessively in front of me. I filled alone time with hobbies I had never tried before. And mostly I came here and read and learned and got involved. :sparkles::pray:
