Ugh.. here I fucking am again. 😞

Well, here I am again. I didn’t drink for 4 months, got into therapy, did well controlling drinking at a wedding, and my boyfriend and I got so drunk last night he got arrested for DUI, we don’t even remember leaving the bar. We had a good talk before the 3rd drink too about getting an uber, and then just got too crazy, blacked out and made a horrible decision. Didn’t even make a decision. Wtf is wrong with me? Whyyy do I have to get so crazy with alcohol. How many times do I have to be in situations like this to realize I just can’t touch it anymore. I’m feeling so low..

@Marycleslie Welcome back here Mary.

I’m sorry that you’re going through this right now but the important thing is to not give up, keep trying, and get back on track. why not check out a virtual meeting to get your head in the right place again?

take a breath, forgive yourself, and move forward. everytime you mess up you’re a step closer to getting it right.

I have never been to a zoom meeting before. I clicked your link, and I’m enjoying an awesome meeting. Thanks!

I hear your pain, and disappointment, and shame. I have been there many times before. The point is one or two or three drinks in, you cannot make good decisions, and if experience has shown you that you cannot stop and negative consequences occur, believe yourself. The first drink is the most important, keep in control of your faculties and you can avoid this kind of situation. Easier said than done, I know, but it can be done. If your boyfriend also has a wake up call from the DUI then you can get sober together. There are AA meetings, Recovery Dharma, SMART, even online short courses. Just apply yourself to something and keep being consistent. :purple_heart:

So sorry to hear your story. Today is the start of what could be an amazing life sober. My advice join a recovery program. AA, Dharma, Smart there are so many resources out there in person and online. Here with us is a fantastic start!

Hi there. Sorry to hear about your relapse.

Sounds like 120+ days of success and 1night of bad decisions. That’s at least a 99.2% success rate over the past 4 months depending on your exact sober streak count. Until yesterday, you’ve been killing it. :slight_smile: Try your best to learn from the regret/shame/pain, be kind to yourself, and remember we’re all rooting for you. You absolutely can do it.

Warmest regards,

Brent

I haven’t been open minded to online meetings. These zoom meetings are way different than the old text format meetings that I’ve tried in the past.

These are done really well. It is almost like being in a room. Even the closing prayer hits like a real meeting.

And the meetings after the meeting are there too.

I may have found a sponsor this morning.

For me and my no meeting town, and fisherman’s schedule. Its a game changer.

Please use this as fuel to not drink again.

Your last post here was five years ago, it just goes too shite that a single drink can end up costing years of your life
