Uhm i wanna make friend’s and uh i wanna be better. kinda? uhm maybe ill be fine if im not though. i js want people to talk too.
Maybe first share a bit about yourself, and what you are having trouble with?
I can start you off. I am a UK female in my 40s, joined probably 7 years ago, to get sober from alcohol. I was a functional alcoholic, but my life was getting more and more unmanageable. Since quitting booze nearly 6 years ago, I started working on my disordered eating, doing pretty well with that, and I am still working on anxiety and people-pleasing tendancies
Hi Jupiter, welcome to TS. Dutch 60 y/o guy here, sober form booze and drugs now for some time, still working on a better life for myself. Getting better all the time slowly but steadily. How about you friend? What brought you here?
Hey welcome ,
I’m Sarah , I’m 13 days sober of Alcohol and clean of Cocaine .
I’ve been part of this community a while now and I can’t recommend it enough !
These people are an amazing support and I’ve definitely made friends here . It’s a safe space of no judgement where we share our highs and lows, tips, andvice, experiences and most of all support each other to stay sober / clean of whatever addiction it is you have .
The main thing is be honest and open and I check in with these guys almost every day at some point .
We also have thread to talk about our hobbies and interests just for fun lol
Welcome again ![]()

Uhm okay. Im 23 days clean from self harm. I have failed so many times and dont know how much I want to be better, but i try. I try for everyone except myself. I like music and that helps me a lot. I enjoy when people recommend songs or bands for me. I am non binary which i know thats like kind of weird for some people and its harder to accept most of the time. I want to be with people who understand how hard addiction can be because not only did i hurt myself i smoked weed and im 11 days clean from that. Thank you for the warm welcome and i appreciate it.
im overall kind of sad and was diagnosed with depression awhile back. and im here because i really wanna be better but its pretty hard. I appreciate the welcome and hope to grow close with others on this app!
Yeah friend, that’s a big one. Gotta find a way to do this for you. To learn to love yourself. That’s not easy for most of us. Sure goes for me too. Therapy helped a lot. And applying what I learned there in real life. Peer support helped loads too. Learning I’m not alone in all this. Hope you can find some of that too, right here, somewhere else, who knows. This sure can be a great place to start. And to stay too btw. Glad to have you here! ![]()
Welcome!
I am a 37 year old guy from the USA. Working to quit alcohol, chewing tobacco, and possibly THC products (still figuring that out). Husband. Father of two.
You’ve come to the right place for empathy, understanding, and wisdom from experience of many people who suffer from a wide range of chemical and behavioral addictions and mental health struggles. Please stick around and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there or ask for help. Embrace this community and I can guarantee you it will embrace you back.
You are not alone. One day at a time.
Hey, welcome! I think it’s awesome that you’re making the effort. ![]()
Queer
woman in her 40s from the US Midwest here, just over 7 months sober from alcohol, and this place is a huge reason why. Best thing I’ve done in a long time is to do the work to make a sober life for myself. It took years of trying.
I don’t think you’ll have any problems being non-binary here (but if you do, lmk)–I’m glad you told us! What pronouns do you prefer??
I’m a dad of trans kids and one has brought his non-binary partner into the family. Plenty of tolerance and understanding on Talking Sober, and loads of other folks here are dealing primarily or secondarily with self-harm. You’re in good hands, here, Jupiter, and you are welcome here.
im sobbing thank you sososo much.
thank you, ive struggled trying for myself but i think i wanna get better
Thanks for sharing. I think it will help people who are similar to you get in touch. I don’t have an issue with weed, very illegal where I live, and I do sh, but don’t consider myself addicted in the way I was with alcohol. Have you ever done any counselling or therapy?
You got this Jupiter
Stack up the days getting better 1 day at a time. Sometimes setbacks happen. They happen to all of us weather we are better or not better. Life can turn for the worst for absolutely anybody at any time. The point is to know how to get through it while staying on track
