I have my last bike race of the year tomorrow - because it’s virtual I get to pick my start time. I think I’ll go out when it’s about 30°, just to say it was below freezing! I’ve trained in the cold and rain. We’re having clear skies up north for a few days, so I won’t have snow to worry about. Good thing because I have my “street slicks” on the bike! The race is a duathlon, 18 miles bike and a 10k run after.
These are the rewards of sobriety - the time and energy and money to pursue passions like this. Because I no longer feel dread and angst all the time, I can believe that doing things I enjoy is legitimate, and it’s okay to indulge a little. Plus, it tires me out and I sleep better at night!
