So I am about to finish week 3…drank 1.5 bottle of wine a night for 16 years. Never had a problem not drinking…just kinda did it. Giving it up is no big deal to me and I have had no side effects. I gained 50+ lbs. Over the 16 years and my question is will I see weight loss?
Sorry I made an edit…I gained 50lbs. Over 16 years
Everybody is different. I’ve lost 3 lbs my first month.
Yes I guarantee you if you don’t increase your eating due to not drinking u will lose weight
Ok…so I am at day number 46. That means I have not consummed 32,200 calories from drinking. My weight has come down 9LBS. Why am I not thrilled? The process is so slow. Giving up the wine was only to get some weight off. I don’t want to sound like I’m wining (LOL) I realize the other awesome benefits I am receiving from not pouring those calories down my throat.
I’ve lost a fair bit of weight, it’s slow but I think that’s a better way to do it
I cut carbs at the same time, lost 20 lbs in two weeks, mainly water but still feels good, head has also shrinken about 50%
Not only lose weight from cutting sugar calories and causing water retention from water weight, but look up alcoholic fatty liver disease. This is a disease most drinkers have but do not know they have it, and can be reversed by quitting alcohol. Not only does the liver help with fat regulation, but fatty liver actually deposits fat on the lover and expanding it. That’s where people get a “beer gut” it’s amndctually their liver swollen from the fat
i haven’t gained any but definitely haven’t lost either - i hear from the 30 days up you should start losing - esp on the gut side.
I lost 3 inches from my wine belly in the first 2 weeks…still have so much more to go. However all my complaining about the slow weight loss…something amazing has happened. SLEEP! I sleep like a baby. It is so worth it to me to be well rested.
I have done some research on that subject, only because I felt like I had this stale BO. just within 3-4 days not drinking I have not noticed it. Sounds gross doesn’t but it is true.
It takes 6 weeks for the liver to start healing itself. My doctor told me it can take up to 6 months to reverse it completely
thank you…I think that is what I need…TIME. Things are already so good for me.
Does your head really grow boozing and if so does it shrink when you stop?
I don’t think the head actually gets bigger, but the face is swollen and puffy. You ever look at someone and can just tell they drink a lot by their puffy face? I didn’t even recognize myself anymore, but after abstaining it goes away, thank goodness!
My face definitely “depuffed” and I love it!! Hard to look back at some photos of myself. Yikes.
I read somewhere that 4 glasses of wine is equal to eating two burgers so you are 14 burgers a week better off not drinking!! So therefore you are going to lose weight. For me it’s about being healthy not the weight but it’s a bonus!!
Thanks. Something to look forward to…
I lost 15lbs after I stopped
Hi. My opinion is that weight loss is possible during sobriety - but not automatic. It still takes diet and exercise. Without sobriety weight loss is impossible - because of the high calories, and careless eating. I lost 45lbs since my first sober date 14 months ago. That was through calories restriction (1700-1800 a day) better foods, and some exercise (but not very much). Also in my mind this is not a “diet” but a permanent shift.
