Do you have a plan to try something new or different? Time to get back on the horse, pal :bird:

Do you know what led to your relapse? This will help prevent one in the future

If im honest i dont know what the best plan is other than just try

My brother…it sounds like you definitely need someone to take you through the steps of recovery. It may sound cliche…But they work. The first step is admitting you are powerless over alcohol/addiction.And that your life has become unmanageable.Your strength will not be enough if your indeed an alcoholic/addict.Reach out to someone in the program and tell them you need help.I pray you find the right person for you.Peace and Love

Not really sure but i feel it was the mind playing games having me doubt myself that im nothing without it tbh :man_shrugging:

I know that feeling way too well. Thinking I was nothing without my DOC, I honestly thought for a while I couldn’t accomplish anything unless I was high on my pills. As i got sober time, I started doing things even better than I did when I was high, and gaining my confidence again. Trust me, you may feel like your better off with your DOC, but that’s the addiction playing tricks on you. You are better than that man

I learned how to play golf when I was high and I feared for the longest time I wouldn’t know how to play once I got sober and I would suck because I learned it while I was high on pills. Come to figure out, not only was I just as good, I was actually better without them

You probably are right, i just can handle the pains and cravings but the one thing that always gets me is the my head telling me one more wont hurt, just do it etc

My DOC is alcohol, so my plan involves one to one therapy with an addiction specialist, regular AA meetings (there are other options too - SMART, Refuge Recovery, possibly other local recovery groups), reading books about addiction and self-improvement, listening to speaker tapes and podcasts, and basically centering my life around recovery. That is what has worked for me for the last 9.5 months - constant action so that I am always walking away from a drink rather than towards it.

Some in the UK have engaged with the NHS alcohol services.

Do they like have a sponser system on this app itself? Yano someone you can quickly speak to on a moment on temptation?

There isn’t a sponsor system on this app - real life sponsors are recommended, which you can obtain by going to an in person meeting. But on this app, you can always post when you are feeling tempted and there are people all around the world that will respond.

Right okay no worries, thankyou

This app runs 24/7. I’ve been posting a lot in the middle of the night bc that’s when I get up with my baby. I try to read every new thread so if I see you pop up I’ll do my best to respond.

Be carful not to let others take advantage of your kindess!

Hi @Jamesyb. I’m glad you’re reaching out. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, I wish more people would do that here. I’m not strong enough either to handle this on my own. I need help. And I’ve found it.

you’re no burden here. when you share, you’re likely helping someone else. That’s a fact.

As a former chronic relapser the best advice I can give you is “if what you’ve been doing so far isn’t working then you try something different”. For myself that something different was going to a meeting. I resisted and resisted and RESISTED…but once I did everything changed.

What is something you haven’t tried yet that you could try now? And honestly, the less you want to do it the more you probably should. Comfort zone = relapse.

YOU CAN DO IT!!
