What are some of yah Sober Hobbies

Well I’m in my 1st 24 hours again and I need to find things to do to occupy my mind and time. I like to bake so I was thinking of trying that when I have the urge to use. Previously, I wouldn’t have grocery money for baking supplies (let alone for normal everyday food), so I rarely baked. Think I will pick up this hobby. I also like to make dreamcatchers but I have to be in the mood for that. I like to exercise but covid has our building gym shut down :frowning: My birthday is coming up next week and I’m hoping for an Amazon gift card so I can pick up dumbbells. Now that I have money too I would like to start adding to my crystal/stone collection. My next purchase is a palmsized raw amethyst crystal. Apparently it helps with healing and with addiction.

Thank you.

Girl all your hobbies and my jam!!! I love baking (I have a cheesecake cooling right now) and stones (I have a pretty large collection) and I tried my hand at making dream catchers earlier this year! I too have to keep busy, or my mind will go straight for the booze.

No way!! Great minds think alike  I can bake cakes but cheesecakes I have not perfected yet lol. What kind of cheesecake is it? Love myself a slice or 2 of that!! Have you found 1 crystal helps more than another for recovery?

Oh wow!! That cake is gorgeous! Decorating the cakes is something i really need to work on!! I’ve never used fondant before. Today’s cheesecake is a Bavarian Apple Torte. I made a NY style and a strawberry crumble (think good humor strawberry ice-cream) for Thanksgiving!

This was my attempt at a boho

dream catcher.

Seems I let a lot of home projects fall behind so I’m getting caught up with them, which I love doing! Also bought some things to make jewelry which I’m going to start this week. The best thing I’m
Doing is spending time with my 1 year old grandson. Sitting on the floor and playing and taking him and my dog to the park!!! Love being sober!!!

Happy early birthday! Before your dumbbells come in - i found this lady - Melissa bender fitness - she does online workouts, no weights needed. Usually 10-20 minutes on video that you can repeat if you want more rounds. I play those on YouTube or my phone when i don’t feel like making a plan for my workout. Her motto is “fitness should be free” :two_hearts::two_hearts:

I’m working on finding new hobbies also. I love all your suggestions! To many of the things in this neighborhood go with people drinking. I hate being a home body but might have to for awhile. I have stuff for sewing reusable napkins & “paper towel roll” & some necklaces i wanted to make. Also need to redo some varnish outside & fix up the garden. Going to try and be more consistent with meal planning & working out. I’m waking up earlier so have to fill this time somehow. And I’ve been coming to these apps a lot :flushed:

I do things I used to only talk about doing when I was drinking. Painting really helped me the first ninety days. It made me feel good when I hated myself and filled the void of time I spent drinking. I listened to the big book alot while painting.

I bought a really nice camera with money I save not drinking. 20 dollars a day was a modest estimate. 20 dollars a day adds up. Now I have something nice that I would have broke by now if I was drinking, and everytime I use it it helps me appreciate recovery. It also inspires me to hike more, spending time taking photos, editing and sharing fills that void of time spent drinking. and it makes me feel good.

I’m a commercial fisherman and have been filming our trips and making videos. Thats something I talked about doing while I was a drunk, but never did. Ive been enjoying that. Editing videos fills the void of time. Its alot of work. It makes me feel good too.

Heres a video I made of our North Beach salmon season.

The band does folk/country.

My solo stuff is everything from ambient, to alt rock, folk, bluegrass, pop (alt pop), alt metal. Just sort of whatever I’m feeling at the moment!

How about you?
