What detox symptoms should I expect?

Alcohol is my addiction… haven’t drank for two days. Feel like absolute crap. BBt was wondering what symptoms some of you others may have experienced. Thanks in advance.

Sweats, pins and needles
(hands, face, feet), nauseous, vomiting. If you are feeling any of this you should be inpatient while you detox. I had a seizure in detox and I medicated after. You will feel better, stay strong.

Depression, anxiety and insomnia, at least for 2 weeks. Maybe shakes. Best thing for this is supplements and excercise. Excercising releases serotonin, the same reward chemical you get for feeding your addiction. And cravings for sugar since your not taking in that alcohol sugar. Eat ice cream or choclate for that. You will either eat a ton or not eat at all. Do not worry about your diet for the first 2 weeks. I would say eating pizza everyday is healthier for you then drinking. After 2 weeks, to me it felt like a fog was lifting up. Slept better, more energy, losing weight, and better mood. I promise you it is worth it. Just take it a minute at a time if you have to

Im experiencing depression, anxiety and agitation. How I’m coping… I’m doing things that I love each day. Today I took myself to this Peruvian restaurant and I bought my favorite soda called Inca kola. This soda makes me so happy because it reminds me of my childhood. 2 days ago I went to an aa meeting for the first time in my life and I felt so much better. Everyone understands! I’m going again this week. Good luck on your journey. Please know that you are not alone!

Merv, alcoholic.

Really depends on how much you were drinking and for how long. Please take any suggestions of doing a medically supervised detox seriously if you begin to feel a break from reality or start to experience symptoms of seizure.

I was a very heavy drinker and I experienced massive nausea, vomiting/heaving, extreme anxiety, numbness of extremities and absolutely zero appetite. Sleep was non-existant. Lasted about 2 days. Good luck out there. It does end and it only gets better from here.

I had unbearable nausea and shakes, then had a seizure and was medicated. Ended up relapsing, so this time around just constant panic attacks and nausea. Basically hell. But it’s day 14 and I can breathe better now.
