Today is day two of my sobriety journey. I am also quitting smoking pot and tobacco at the same time as alcohol. I cannot remember my last day completly sober prior to yesterday (I am usually a habitual pot user, and almost daily drinker). Man this is hard!!! I am feeling pretty shitty today…hopefully tomorrow will be better.
What I did today instead of using:
Took my dogger to the dog park
Went out for coffee with my wife
Installed two air conditioners
Cleaned the basement
Played basketball with some neighbor kids
Posted and read about addiction
Cooked dinner
Watched - And Then They Killed My Father
WHAT DID YOU DO TODAY?
I would like to use this thread to check in daily with my progress.

You can do it! Keep busy go some where to watch the fireworks. After you detox you will feel good. Remember any type of sobriety is something to celebrate

Thats a lot to quit at the same time but I imagine it all goes hand in hand. This is all new to me as well because I am going on hour 77 without alcohol. I cant offer much advice except that I am pretty sure thatvif this is what you and I really want to do and if we are truely ready for this then we will do it. I quit smoking cigarretts 2005. I had tried to cut down and quit many times but was never really ready till then. Havent gone back since. If I can quit one bad habit I can quit another. Good luck to us both and stay strong. Checking in here almost hourly has helped me with a lot of my cravings so far. As well as staying busy. Been cleaning my house all day. Happy 4th of July.

Congrats on 2 days! This is hard.remember to take it one day at a time. Keep busy. Drink lots of water. Take your vitamins especially B vitamins. Get lots of rest. Keep checking in and reaching out for help. It’s hard but it does get better. Slowly but surely. You can do this. I’m proud of you for reaching out.

Today I’m watching our granddaughter and getting the camper ready to go for vacation tomorrow. Such a great feeling to be sober and trustworthy. Would never be In this wonderful place if I was drinking.

Thank you. I’m camping at an alcohol free campground on the beach. Makes it a little easier to stay sober.
Nice! The first time sober camping was strange but I could get up early and hike, ride my bike, swim, read, kayak, even clean the beach early in the morning like I used to with our daughters when they were little. No hangovers. no guilt. Best vacations ever. Enjoy yourself. You deserve it!!

What I really want to do is reach for a glass of wine BUT I’m about to go outside and rip some weeds out.

Got up feeling pretty good. I had work today having off yesterday made me feel like today qas Monday. Sweat a pound off maybe (I manage a greenhouse so its pretty damn hot) Had a lot of energy. Had fresh bananas and strawberries for breakfast. Bananas really help the stomach and help with potassium which I was deficient in from drinking. Went to lunch without hitting the liquer store and left work and went straight home without taking that left turn. Now even though I am sweaty and smelly from workin all day Imma go dig in my own yard till the sun goes down or the mosquitos try to eat me alive.

Awesome job resisting!! This was the first day in FOREVER that I didn’t hit the snooze repeatedly and basically crawl, and grunt my way to the coffee pot. I woke up feeling pretty refreshed. I work near a bunch of hiking trails so my office mate and I went on a hike at lunch. Heading home now to go pack for a 4 day camping trip. It is going to be so weird camping without alcohol.
Again, great job today!

7 days sober!! Just got back from camping. First time sober camping as an adult, and I actually had a really great time. I didn’t wake up feeling like crap, I remember everything that happened, and I didn’t argue with my wife. I spent my time reading, playing games, crawdadding (which i have not done since I was a kid), swam, and ate yummy food.
Off to my woodworking class tonight.
What did you do today?

I spent my day at the beach with family and some new friends. Got a little sunburnt but defiantly did not drink or even think about drinking
Work. Committee meeting. Meeting. Steak dinner.
Ahh the tough life of a recovering alcoholic/addict
