Not a band I ever ‘got into’ or followed. But they were there in the 1980’s / 1990’s when I listening to most music. Thanks for posting. Bradford’s finest? I preferred Biff Byford Sheffield’s finest in Saxon.

Syd Barrett is the original guitar player and singer for Pink Floyd. He left the band right before they gained commercial success. There is lots of theories on what happened some people say he was an acid casualty, some people say it was schizophrenia or that simply he just could not handle the spotlight or fame. Ultimately it doesn’t really matter. But after he left Pink Floyd he did two solo records. The first record was called the madcap laughs which this song is off of. David Gilmour the guitar player and singer who replaced Syd Barrett for Pink Floyd helped Syd produce this album The madcap laughs and also played a few instruments on the record. After Syd left Pink Floyd He lived a quiet life in the country side of England and mostly kept to himself. My opinion is that he Could not handle the spotlight and it was an extreme amount of stress Having to be the front man. There is friends of his that said he did not do as much acid as the media make it out to seem. I also think the acting out was partially a act and he simply just wanted to disappear. Probably the best thing for him was to disappear and do his own thing out of the spotlight. I’m not saying he didn’t have mental health troubles But he wasn’t a crazy nutcase or unable to function. Just because you don’t want to be on TV all the time or interviewed or constantly on the road doesn’t mean somethings wrong with you. I really like Syds Writing style and it reminds me of English fairytales or something like that at times. The structure of his rhymes and words or word placement or whatever it’s called is really awesome. I discovered this album when I was 18 and it got me through some difficult times…
