What is the difference

What is the difference between relapse and a lapse?

When I was in treatment I was told a lapse is when you go back out fir maybe a day or 2 and a relapse is when you go out longer.

These are just subjective words used to make it seem more gentle or less serious. It’s been discussed at length in the past, along with “is it a slip or a relapse?”

To me, lapse is lying to yourself about having a relapse and a relapse is having even one bit of your DOC

There’s a difference?

My whatever lasted 457 days and I have 0 concern about what to call it… stay sober and you won’t have to worry about it…

Is there difference between lapse or realspe

The only difference is how they are defined in a dictionary.

Believe it or not, there have been individuals who carried on “lasping” on a regular basis and had considered themselves sober because they weren’t blacking out. :unamused:

It can be a slippery slope to have a sliding scale of sobriety, personally I believe you’re either sober or you’re not.

About two letters is the difference I see.

Yeah, I’m thinking “lapse” is a word to make a person feel better about the relapse.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter. What matters is what you do moving forward.

YOU CAN DO IT!!
