What’s going on?

It all kind of came from drinking and my seizures before and during drinking I lost all feeling in my legs and after two and a half weeks of detox in the hospital I went into another hospital and had to learn how to walk again after regaining a little feeling at a time! The peripheral neuropathy is what I have been diagnosed with and I can pretty much walk at all times without my leg braces now! I am on a lot of seizure meds and muscle relaxers that are non additive due to the fact that I got sober from Xanax and pain meds. I refuse to take any addictive meds. And I have been really trying to stay away from alcohol! Thank you for the appreciation and time you have given to reply!

Great job making it 7months sober! Sorry to hear about your fall in the bathroom, please do be careful especially in and out the shower with the slippery surfaces. I slipped a time or two and know how it can really cause some pain, i try always keep one of the slip mats in the shower. I fractured a few ribs once and it took some time for me to heal up. Just take it easy and really watch yourself glad to hear that things are good in your sobriety. Keep up the good work :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh my I’m glad you’re okay! I’m really lucky I fell in a way I wasn’t hurt that bad! And thank you I had the couple slip ups during the holidays but I’m staying sober after I messed up!

Sounds like you are doing an excellent job of rehabilitating yourself in lots of areas. Congrats on that. You met a huge challenge and did not lose your sobriety. That is something to be super proud of. Thoughts, prayers, vibes and all that you will continue getting your function back until you are 100% recovered.

A few days this past week i had some thing going on with me. Friday i started having pain in my right side under my ribs i was kind of thinking maybe i had strained something or twisted my back. It was like that all night i thought it would feel better but i tossed and turned though the night and it was still bothering me in the morning. Pain was about a 7 and i was just laying there didnt want to get up. My wife hauled me to the hospital, i was thinking id just wait it out. Was worried i had kidney stones or some kind of infection. They gave me a shot for the pain ran some tests and seemed to be nothing really much of worry. They gave me some patches and told me come back if things get worse or other symptoms develope. Get on edge when dealing with anykind of pain like that i was thinking just hope he makes it quick i dont want to suffer too much. Just greatful the pain is not so intense now, and im able to take it easy get rested up. I was just not able to sleep

At least it’s not as painful as before! Did they give you any reasons for it?

Think it would be intercostal muscle strain, i didnt want to go because i was afraid of me asking them just to load me up with medication. or finding something worse that was going on, i was crying in pain on the way in, but was just trying tough it out

Well then pain meds were probably there first go to because they aren’t supposed to let people suffer and trying to get through it without the meds is a good sign to them that you aren’t just asking for meds.

Kind of a fear of mine i had to face, pain and despair. I never really was the type who went willingly to the hospital was usually straped down or in cuffs.

Oh I got strapped down three times during detox after having to be flown out to a bigger hospital. They wrote on my file that I was a combative patient and I ripped out IV after IV I even tried to call the cops on the hospital three times saying that they had kidnapped me! Haha. I hate going to the hospital and I always end up having to go because of my seizures. So I feel you on the strapped down part not the cuff part though!

I always look back see how i was fighting everyone who was trying to help me, when i was only fighting myself from getting the help i really need.:slightly_smiling_face:

That’s good to hear!
It’s the leather bound F. Scott Fitzgerald three story special edition. Of course The Great Gatsby is the main story but it’s so beautifully written! The movie is amazing but the book is so much better!

There is a “What are you reading” ( something like that) thread if you ever want to take a pic of the book and post it. How nice that you have it now!
