What's YOUR plan?

Welcome!! Glad to have u in this amazing community! Congratulations on 1 day sober  What has been helping so far for you?

Thank you so much!

Honestly keeping myself busy . My last drink was during my lunch break yesterday at 12:00. My routine was leaving work and heading straight to the liquor store. I sat outside the parking lot and was very honest with myself. I said “i’m going to buy the bottle but I know i’m going to try my hardest to not drink” I came home , cleaned my messy house and have been making videos to hold myself accountable.

Surprisingly I did get some good sleep, was very hungry but didn’t want to eat. Today I woke up and did the same thing , clean my house and going to go take my dog for a walk.

I can also be honest that I did pack a bag in case I have to rush to the hospital but so far haven’t really had any withdrawals besides the night sweats, and heart beating out of my chest but I am pretty sure that is just the withdrawal anxiety :grimacing:.

So glad that ur not experiencing severe withdrawals. Its a good course of action tho to prepare.

Be gentle with urself as ur body and mind recover  Stay recovery focused and try to stay hydrated and eat when ur able to. Glad to hear that u were able to get some rest tho!

Do u have any supports around u other than this forum? Do u like attending in-person or online meetings?

Glad u were able to eat something

If ur ever interested in checking out a meeting, theres online ones through the Intherooms app. They are quite good! Might help down the road when ur triggered or craving to pick up. And of course stay closely connected to this forum  If it wasnt for this forum, i honestly probably wouldnt have the clean time i have now.

Welcome @Igotthis.amen! The advice from @JazzyS and @Butterflymoonwoman is spot on. When I first quit I read a lot of books about quitting and listened to sober podcasts. I needed direction about the “how” to do it. Willpower alone just won’t work. Trust us, you need more than that

I am so glad you are feeling pumped about your new sober life it is worth all of the work it takes to keep it. Cravings and triggers will come but with a plan you can push through. Every time you do, you get stronger!

After trying a meeting, my perspective on them changed tremendously! Last time I was sober I felt it wasn’t really a fit for my plan. This time I will definitely be including them in my plans as it has fundamentally changed my internal emotions and perspectives about quitting alcohol. I now see, for me at least, it goes beyond the physical aspect of a habit and into the deeper love and healing of myself as a person. I’m only on day 3 but I feel fundamentally changed inside already and it’s a great feeling
