Aww…. what a gorgeous face
She’s so sweet looking and the colors and textures around her just makes for a very nice overall picture.
OK cat people. I need your input. As you know I lost my Guy kitty a month ago (10/11). His sister and littermate is 5.5 years old. I thought I might consider getting her a companion in the spring. Another female close to her age. Well…as providence would have it, a mommy cat had babies under this messy, ugly tarp in our backyard (don’t get me started on the @#$@ tarp!!). They must be about 5-6 weeks as they are just venturing out. I’ve seen two so far. I think you know where this is going. My Rosie is handling her grief well. Spends lots of time with me and SO. If we sit down, she is on our lap. She sleeps on our bed every night. She was the nurturer with her brother. I got one of those Google collages today named “Spotlight on Guy”. I almost didn’t open it because his loss is still very painful. But, in 8 out of 10 pictures she was with him. They were true companions. I want her to have that again. Thoughts? Too soon? Will it stress her out? Another sign…she got vaccinated last evening. No feline leukemia, though. I know that is a risk for wild kitties. Anyway…don’t want to do anything impulsive, but OMG I HAVE KITTENS IN MY BACKYARD!! Will I even sleep tonight??
No advice really. It’s cats we’re talking about. I think if Rosie had a good bond with her brother the odds aren’t bad she’d like to have a new mate. But not sure of course. As to the nest outside: time for some rescue action? Is there an organization in your vicinity that helps with rescues? Also considering the kittens, I’d say it’s high time to work on 'm to get 'm socialized before they are truly wild for the rest of their lives right?
I always bring home 2 kittens when my last cat is left alone. Two reasons: 2 kittens can play with each other and more or less respect the different needs of older cats. And 3 cats always find someone to cuddle, young and old. so it has been 1-2-1-3-2-1-3 in my life for the last 26 years
My experience is the sooner you bring home new fellows the better. A longer period of beeing alone made my cats depressive (both male, age over 10 when lost their buddies).
I feel with you, this are difficult decisions
Wow, that’s a cool strategy
Thanks @Mno . A very kind man across the street feeds strays and leaves his garage door open about a foot every night. He catches them and has them neutered and released. Obviously he missed 2. I spoke to him yesterday and he said he will talk to the neighborhood network. Apparently there is a group of people who help manage the cat population. We really don’t have that many strays in the neighborhood and now I know why. I will not be making any decisions today. I was so surprised to see them yesterday my first impulse was to commit to taking one. We will see what happens. Thanks for weighing in.
Thanks @erntedank …my sis and hubs usually have 3. That is a good system you have for your kitties! Considering my current living situation 1 additional would be a stretch. I live with SO in his house. We have a 3 y.o. golden and he wants a puppy as a companion for him. COVID has slowed down those plans. Anyway…1 we might do. Or…I still own a property that is empty. I can take them all and go live there!
Oh my god are they cute
uiuiui, I feel an urge for more cats. This is the best time to cuddle mine - they quickly remind me that 3 is cat in abundance sometimes
Yes . . . they are darned cute. And there was one more. All three are now residing in my garden tub!
Sorry for the creepy eyes. I don’t think they are aliens . . .
Stay tuned!!
Omg Kittens
What? They have a sale or something!!
What are you doing with 3 kittens in your garden tub? I will be staying tune for sure.
Just read this after I already posted.
When getting kittens it’s always best to get 2 together. But how could you choose? Taking on all 3 plus the one you got
We got 4. 3 youngsters and the old girl Alice. It works out pretty well. With that said. It is work.
You know they’re like potato chips. You can’t just have one. Good luck.
This is MY kitten! He is the reincarnation of my orange tabby who died October 11th. I present to you… Anthony (Tony for short)…
There is more to the story. I’ll share soon.
Tony’s gonna need someone to play with besides an old cat that might not like him. Kittens tend to irritate old cats 🐈⬛
Rosie is only 5. And very playful. Fingers crossed!
